humidifiers

you know those little personal humidifiers used to help people breath clearly at night? would those work well if hooked up to the aquarium? given you put distilled water in the humidifier and keep a timer on it? does this seem like a good idea?

Probably wouldn't work.
Doesn't seem like it would put out enough humidity.
Try it and see. What do ya got to lose.

Try it and post the results so's others will know.
Good luck.

Personally I'd be more worried about the heat coming out of the humidifier then how much humidity it puts out

The type of apparatus you're referring to stinkynuts138 is a vaporizer. Instead of making a cool, fine mist as an Ultra-Sonic Humidifer does, they use heat to vaporise water.

Generally, your not going to want to use that humidifer unless you have a controllable heat setting and can fashion some sort of heat reducing filter.

Your right. If its a vaporizer, then don't use it. I really didn't know what method of humidification the personal units utilized.

Most personal humidifiers are "warm mist"... you dont want to use a warm mist humidifier

If you are looking for a cheap humidifier that is small and will do the trick sunbeam makes a very compact ultra sonic humidifier for around 30-40 dollars, I got one at Walgreens... it runs on the low setting for about 12 hours and produces MORE than enough humidity for one terrarium... so much so that I had to hook up some "air drying" chambers along the line from the humidifier to the terrarium because there was just TOO much moisture coming in...

I would post pics of my grimy ass sister woluld give me back my digital camera
