What is he on?
    #1721411 - 07/16/03 11:51 AM (20 years, 8 months ago)

There is a very 'typical' Bush quote in this article (emphasis mine), and it makes me wonder just how this man's brain works. From The Guardian:

Quote:

US heads for $1.9 trillion deficit as Iraq war costs $48bn

David Teather in New York
Wednesday July 16, 2003
The Guardian

The Bush administration yesterday admitted the federal budget deficit this year would be 50% higher than previous forecasts as it emerged that the Iraq war had so far cost the Pentagon $48bn (?30bn).

The White House said the US would end the year with a record $455bn budget shortfall, up from previous estimates of $304bn. Over six years, the deficit is now forecast to reach $1.9 trillion, up from an earlier estimate of $1.4 trillion.

The admission came a day after President George Bush, whose malapropism has spawned dozens of websites and books, uttered one of his most extraordinary gaffes yet when he told reporters that the US had invaded Iraq because Saddam Hussein had refused to allow weapons inspectors in.

Pressed during an Oval Office press conference on the now infamous assertion that Iraq had sought to buy uranium ore in Africa, he said: "The larger point is, and the fundamental question is, did Saddam Hussein have a weapons programme? And the answer is, absolutely. And we gave him a chance to allow the inspectors in, and he wouldn't let them in.

"And, therefore, after a reasonable request, we decided to remove him from power, along with other nations, so as to make sure he was not a threat to the United States and our friends and allies in the region."

The comment, made on Monday, received little coverage in the US media. Although it did raise some eyebrows at the Washington Post, which, in understated style noted: "The president's assertion that the war began because Iraq did not admit inspectors appeared to contradict the events leading up to the war this spring."

Saddam had in fact allowed weapons inspectors back in to Iraq on November 27 last year for the first time in four years and they remained there, albeit in a largely fruitless search, until the US and Britain decided to invade.

The White House did not re turn calls seeking comment.

The administration blamed the growing red ink on the weakness in the economy and the costs of fighting terrorism. The influential federal reserve chairman, Alan Greenspan, also raised concerns about the size of the deficit and called on the administration to exercise some "fiscal responsibility".

In response the White House said: "The tax cuts proposed by the president are not the problem. They are part of the solution." It believes the stimulus package will help cut the deficit to $226bn by 2008.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Dov Zakheim, the US defence department comptroller, said the military's role in Iraq now was costing an average of about $3.9bn a month. The Pentagon was given an additional $62.6bn this year, on top of its $364bn budget, to fight the war.

Mr Zakheim said he expected that all but $4bn of the additional cash would be spent before the end of September, the Pentagon's fiscal year.

If Bush really did say that (and the Washington Post seem to think he did too), then I'm pretty speechless. Is he that stupid that he can't even remember the reasons he used to 'sell' the war in Iraq that happened only a few months ago?

The above is an extract from my fictional novel, "The random postings of Edame".

In the beginning was the word. And man could not handle the word, and the hearing of the word, and he asked God to take away his ears so that he might live in peace without having to hear words which might upset his equinamity or corrupt the unblemished purity of his conscience.

And God, hearing this desperate plea from His creation, wrinkled His mighty brow for a moment and then leaned down toward man, beckoning that he should come close so as to hear all that was about to be revealed to him.

"Fuck you," He whispered, and frowned upon the pathetic supplicant before retreating to His heavens.

Is that not the best pic in American political history?!!? What a fuckin' idiot...who are the puppet masters that control these guys anyway? Isn't there a theory regarding some organization/group that exerts great control over world affairs, but is largely unknown.

Somewhere, buried in the labyrinthian depths of the Washington DC building complexes there sits a small man in a small office. Officially he is a clerk of some sort, supervising himself. He is a government employee that has been on the same job for the last twenty five years.

He is the one in control, delivering orders even as he gathers signatures for some useless paperwork. He is the one on the periphery, unknown and unknowable, unseen and unseeable, one of thousands of civil servants. But because of his job of gathering signatures he can go nearly anywhere without thought or comment. He delivers the orders, and the public buffoons see them out.

Still waiting for an answer . . .

If he does ever bother to respond, he'll probably say something like: "Bush may have his problems, and maybe some of the other Republican candidates would have been better, but he's still better than all of the Democrats!"

Uahahahahahahahahaha

Then he'll accuse us all of having poor reading comprehension skills (and he'll misspell a few words while he's at it). He'll argue that when Bush said that Iraq didn't admit inspectors, he was ACTUALLY saying that Iraq didn't COOPERATE with the inspectors. We all just lack the proper reading comprehension skills necessary to understand Bush's gnomic utterances.

Maybe you mean the Illuminati?  The Illuminatus! Trilogy is a good place to start if you're interested in them.  It's a sci-fi/comedy book that manages to include just about every conspiracy theory going.

I thought those Bush pictures were hilarious too.

It's been Photoshopped. Look at the two books closely. If you rotate the one in Bush's hands 180 degrees, it does not match the one in the girl's hands. This has been pointed out dozens of times in dozens of places (including this forum), but few Libbies ever bother to inspect it closely.

Rono writes:

Take a look at the index finger of Bush's left hand. It is resting on the back cover near the spine of the book, and is touching some portrayed object that is black. Now work your way diagonally upwards out from the spine of the book towards the edge. You will see closest to the spine (and Bush's finger) that black thingie, then a red thingie about two thirds out, then a dark blue curved thingie right at the very edge of the picture, closest to the whitespace of the edge of the book's cover.

Now look for those same three thingies on the back cover of the book in the girl's hands. You can locate all three of them with no difficulty. Note their positions. Lo and behold! The black thingie is now closest to the edge of the cover, the red thingie is now only one third of the way out to the edge instead of two thirds, and the dark blue curved thingie is now closest to the spine of the book.

Simply turning a book upside down will not reverse the order of objects from spine to edge. Try it yourself with a real book and see.

Photoshopped for sure, and clumsily at that.

I saw those statements on a soundbite on MSNBC. He seems to forget that Hussein did let the inspectors in, and that Bush wouldn't give the inspectors the time they requested.
