Tonight it was Japanese Chicken Curry (Golden Brand). One of my favorite rainy day meals. Girlfriend ate with rice and fried egg on top, in true CA Style I wrapped mine in a tortilla.

A tasty change from the standard Thai and Indian Curries. A very popular dish in Japan, it's worth a try.

Dudes, it's cool if you want to have a food diary, but at do us the decency of posting some porn so we can dream about what it was like to eat what you're ramblin' on about! :yesnod:

Example, for lunch the other day I visited Eden Burgers for the first time, a relatively new joint in Glendale, California.  Their truffle fries and dipping sauce were outstanding, as was their beer selection, from which I enjoyed a St Bernardus Abt 12 of the Belgian persuasion; but the star was this juicy special burger of the day - the "Bomie" - which consisted of 50% bacon and 50% 31 day dry aged ground beef, cooked a very solid pink medium on the inside while still retaining some nice caramelized crunch on the outside, with all sorts of nice accoutrement.

Fucking tongue-gasm to the extreme, I tell you what. :drooling:

Then today, I made a soup from scratch using the carcass of a Costco rotisserie chicken (my absolute favorite $5 bird, so juicy and succulent and ridiculously cheap).  A heaping helping of deliciously organic vegetables all chopped up and added at the appropriate times, a handful of herbs and voila, heaven in a bowl.  I don't have a finished pic, but you can view a run down of my basic recipe and a couple of finished pictures here, if you dare.

I used flowering kale for the first time today, it was so damn purdy lookin' on the produce isle, I had to take it home with me. :sun:

a couple of months ago in atlanta I had picked up a large bag of pak choi, I
used a couple for soups and ate the rest over the course of a week the same
way, occasionally for breakfast and sometimes for lunch, a little soy and
lemon got me started that little binge but I couldnt pass up 5lbs of pak
choi for $2

You guys need to take pictures of the meals you're eating.  I'm curious!

Here's what I had for dinner a couple Fridays ago.

Bao Haus.  A restaurant in NYC that specializes in bao style sandwiches.  Clockwise from 10 O'clock:  Fried chicken bao, braised beef cheek bao, red-braised pork belly bao.  They're all topped with roasted peanuts and have various sauces tucked underneath the meat.

Oh it's a Dutch term apparently, they call them princess beans here. The regular bean: Phaseolus vulgaris.

BRAISED COUNTRY-STYLE PORK RIBS MOTHER FUCKERS!

first things first, add oil to pan and brown the ribs, one by one, and set aside in a dish.  Then add a little more oil and saute your mire poix till softened, add garlic and saute til fragrant...

next add your ripe or canned tomato dice and continue to saute another 3 min. Then add 50/50 vinegar and wine totaling about 1/4cup and deglaze pan until juices are brown.

add the browned ribs back to the pan.  Add enough stock or water to come halfway up the sides of the ribs.  Then pat the ribs with remaining spice rub and bring the whole mess to a vigorous simmer....

once the pot is simmering nicely, cover and place in preheated oven at 275 for 2-3hrs....

Tonight i'm supposed to be baking my take on an Idaho sunrise. An idaho sunrise is a hollowed out potatoe baked with an egg, bacon, cheese, whatever else. Mine is going to be with egg, bratwurst, cheese, onion, red and green pepper, various seasonings, and going to top it with sour cream. This would also be good for breakfast.
I will post a picture if it works out!

I have no patience so here is the first pic of dinner. I am sure the bruja will update with pics of the entire process.
