I agree. A couple of times a year or so is good enough for me. But.. once I get a solid ID on those Silvaticas? I figure I'll have to give a trip report on potency.

No we like edibles.
Actives are interesting to study, but I don't eat them very often. A lot of people here barely eat actives. I try to eat them often, but that ends up being a couple times a year.
Edibles I can use every day, so they are much more useful than funny mushrooms.

Edibles are great, I love studying actives though, I personally have tried them twice a couple years ago, but it ended up badly both times and i took such a low dose about .5 of cyans, my neuro gastrointestinal couldnt take it. That was when I overlooked the interesting nature of them and how they can help people when used in a proper medicinal way, such as helping terminal patients cope with depressing and how they can really help cluster headache victims. Not to mention what they do for us ecologically, I tend to think of the genus Psilocybe as the Alders of the mushroom world, they come in after devastation and help prepare the environment for regrowth. I refuse to take them these days, but I study them fiercely, I know there must be hidden medical benefits that are waiting to be found or derived from these tryptamine alkaloid containing mushrooms.

Fly agaric is one that I find particularly interesting as well. Seems like it could be the mushroom of mushrooms. It can be eaten as gourmet if prepared properly, it can be used for a psychoactive experience as well if prepared properly. I've even heard of people using it daily as a mild energy tonic/mood lifter and keeps your body warm in the winter. Even though I find them sometimes and have dried specimens, I have yet to step up to the plate of self experimentation .

I too have yet to "step to the plate" lol.
I want to try them for flavor but not really interested in the whole experience.
Let us know if you go all the way.
