Fruit Flies, is my friend screwed? * 1

My friends house has a minor fruit fly problem. Its not real bad, but theyre there. My friend is working on his 1st project ever and is really worried about these little bugs. I went to his house, caught 1 in a jar, it looked just like the fruit fly pics I saw on the net, big red eyes and a yellow belly, tiny little suckers. How serious should my friend take this problem? Should he use a fogger bomb? call an exterminator? put glue traps near the project? Its not a bad infestation, my friend would just ignore them if it werent for his project.

Any suggestions?

I've never heard of fruit flys being a problem but I may be wrong. Fungas knats are a different story.

yeah I would try to get rid of them before getting starting a batch up because they may not hurt the mushroom directly but they may carry contams into your grow chamber and they may lay eggs on the myceluim(not sure about that though).I see nothing good coming from them so I would get rid of them at all cost if you ask me.

Mist with a 3% h2o2 solution, this should give the fruit flies a nasty blow. As Psiloccybin_monkey also said, I don't expect fruit flies to directly hurt the shrooms or mycelium, but they do form an extra contamination threat, so it's best to get them out of there.
