Crazy Animals!
    #1698688 - 07/09/03 02:53 AM (20 years, 8 months ago)

I was reading on a website regarding mushrooms and came across these funny lines:

Quote:

Some animals also use Amanita muscaria for recreational purposes. I have observed squirrels in Wisconsin guarding over a cache of these mushrooms up in a tree. It has also been reported that reindeer (caribou) in the northern climates also seek out and eat Amanita muscaria for their euphoric effects.

As many of you know as well, slugs and insects/larvae love to scourge outdoor psilocybn-containing mushroom patches! I bet they trip balls too.

How much truth do you think there is to that? Animals tripping balls? Maybe they are tripping all the time... who knows! Remember that experiment with rats and cocaine? Rats would drink the cocaine-water until they died... animals love to get high it seems.

It seems anything with a consciousness and no outside biased influence like to change it.

I saw  show once on the discovery channel about animals intoxicating themselves. They had these lemurs (I think) that would rub poisonous centipedes all over themselves. Then they would just lie there rubbing themselves and rolling around, they looked very e-tarded :nut:

The story about caribou was also on there, and how that's how the myth of santa and flying reindeer may have arisen after both rider's and caribou would ingest them.

I think its normal (maybe natural is a better word) for conscious creatures to want to change there consciousness. Thats one thing that bothers me about drug laws, it supresses natural human urges (in my opinion). Samething w/ the people that say sex is wrong

Also, animals sometimes eat partially fermented berries and whatnot that they find decaying on the ground. Maybe that is why squirrels are so fucked up........

It's an episode worth looking for.

Very interesting, they had intoxicated bees. When they returned to the hive messed up, the gaurd bee's wouldn't let them in until they were sober. They would fly around bumping into things in these weird zig zag patterns. I still like the ideas of bee bouncers :tongue2:

I once read about a group of Indian elephants who drank some rice wine from a local village. Later they busted in, killed a few people and raided the rice wine stores.

Once, when I was much younger, my family and some friends went to an all-you-can-put-in-a-bucket pick-your-own-strawberries place and came back with serveral buckets. One of these was accidently left out overnight in the heat and rain and went quite rotten -- and quite fermented. I gave them to my friend's chickens as a treat.

...Those chickens got sooooooo drunk off that shit. There's nothing funnier than watching chickens weaving around drunk, falling off of perches, and otherwise acting intoxicated. %)

Check these spiderwebs weaved of same spider on LSD, Mescaline, Cannabis and Caffeine! Judging from this, maybe people should swap their morning coffee with mescaline!  Now where did I put my cactus...
