hunting in tn
    #1721526 - 07/16/03 02:33 PM (13 years, 4 months ago)

hey there, i live in tennessee and i have read all about hunting and i know exactly what cubes look like, i found one last year actually, but i cant ever seem to find them here. i go to this field that i found one in last year but i have never found anything, however i have found some very young cubes but they were only about a cm long. how long do i wait to go after it rains? it seems like i always miss the cubes. maybe i should try a new field? peace

Yeah, you may want to find some new fields. Keep in mind that Ps. cubensis is a rare find in TN.

MM & MJ Why you reckon they don't grow in TN?

Is it that they just don't grow in Tennessee, or would you say that they won't grow in Tennessee. Even if a field were spawned with live mycelia.

Tennesse is divided into 3 basic climate zones. Two are probably not warm enough for cubensis to fruit consistently and return. One, a small section bordering Arkansas and Alabama, may be warm enough though. If they can be found in Tenn., that's probably the place to look.

since acid disapeared in memphis 3-4 years ago (has rescently returned) locally picked field caps have been the staple hallucinogen. i am very surprised that people are under the impression that it is difficult to pick cubensis in this area. this summer i have personally picked many beautiful specimen of cubensis. my prized farm has a continuous source of water and produces cubensis of two varieties. both are highly potent and extremely healthy, one of which reaches enormous sizes and the immature caps are lightly spotted. the other strain produces caps with a large nipple in the center. beacuse of memphis' proximity to the river a high humidity is maintained. i will try to take pictures but unfortunately my yields have drastically reduced, i expect due to the extremes of summer heat and my overhavesting. i am currently searching for a virgin field.

You should take some prints and photos. Sounds like it could be a new strain.

i will do my best to get pictures. i am moving to north carolina in 3 weeks. i have not seen any picturesque cubensis in about a month. memphis was hit by a massive storm a week ago. following the storm there has been a slight temperature drop and an increase in rainfall. i hope this with adequately renew quality and yield.

is there anything i could do to help invigorate the fruiting process?
