Nice photos.

First, a tip on anything you might want identified. Make a collection.

Even with good photos, it's likely that you won't get all the details needed to identify many species. Bruising reactions are a god example of this - they can take up to a hour to determine, something you're not likely to spend the time doing in the field.

Second tip - We need to see the underside of most mushrooms to identify them. So, even if you don't want to make a collection, pick one or two and turn them sideways and upside down for your photo. That'll make things a lot easier for those trying to identify them.

For the first ones, we need to see the underside of the cap. Does it have gills under there? Pores?

The second one looks like maybe a Russula.

The third one is a bolete. We need to know the detailed appearance of the stem and the bruising reactions to have a chance to identify it to species.

Those spiny things sure are weird. I don't recall seeing anything like that here.

The black ones are probably in the genus Trichoglossum or Geoglossum. A hand magnifier would allow you to decide which genus. To identify them to species requires a microscope.

That last one looks like one of the minute species of Coprinus. If you really want to know which one, you can try going through the descriptions at this site. To use the keys you need to use a microscope, but you can certainly go through all the various species pages and see which ones look close.

Happy mushrooming!

Thanks ToxicMan! I'm aware that I'm not following good ID protocol with my pictures, I suppose I'll work on getting better at that with my future posts. I'll check out that site. Peace.

the black ones look like "dead man's fingers" to me, AKA Xylaria polymorpha, which grow from buried stumps or rotting roots. I was just saying in another post that this is one of my favorite non-edible, non-trippable mushrooms to find. I think i just like the name :-) You've got a decent pic of them in my opinion, showing a bit of the habitat and the tree root they are growing from.

Thanks GGreatOne234!

bluefoot23, xylaria polymorpha is a cool name. These guys were very hard, almost like wood. The pic is a tad blurry and out of focus because I didn't have a tripod to steady it. Peace.
