Details: PC India Orissa, .5ml from syringe injected onto MEA then stuck in the incubator.
It looks like the top of the MEA is turning white-ish. Doesn't look at all like the other strain I have growing on MEA, though that is from a grain transfer, not from a syringe. I have 4 plates of india that look the same.
Is this stuff ok?
Oh on a similar note, how much do I need to put in a jar to innoculate? 1/2? 1/4? 1/8? Does a larger slice speed colonization?
If you start from multispore it will always look much different than a transfer from something that has grown out a bit. The mycellium is bursting with energy growing any which way, with hundreds upon thousands of sexual matings. Where as later generations, or grown out mycellium (say from g2g), are much more likely to be a select mating pair, or an isolated strain. I mean not to say that's always the case, but it can be. It's definantly not the mating explosion that's occuring in multispore on agar.
