First grow closet set up

Hi all as this is my first grow i figured i would post a few pics originally started with 20 pf tek type jars 8 of which i lost to contamination. After tweaking my sterilization methods I inoculated another 12 jars which have all made it to almost complete colonization.I have a remote temp display so i can keep watch on the the temperature at all times and the closet is not tight sealing allowing for fresh air exchange but still maintains a temp between 75 and 80 degrees. Lighting in the closet is a 6500k florescent day light bulb and be on a 12/12 schedule.

I have basically transformed a walk in closet in to a small grow room with ample room for 4 large fruiting chambers as well as general storage for my mycology supplies with two 2 Foot table one on each side of the closet and a small shelf connecting the table that holds heater/fan and spray mist bottle.

the first 12 jars that survived i have spawned to bulk substrate following damion5050's coir tek with a half cup of added gypsum did modify the amount of coir mix made to fit my needs and now have 3 pans of substrate that are working on colonization.

will keep this updated as everything starts to move along. want to thank everyone who has helped me out along the way and the shroomery for the wealth of knowledge. Any tips or advice you have would be great planning on moving to mono tubs once I am done with this batch.

Looks ... Why are your jars upside down though? and for your trays, do you have holes on the lid or anything?

The only two thoughts that came to my head when reading the OP.
Don't flip jars. It disturbs your dry verm layer & lessens GE. The bulk "cakes" you have in those tupperware containers needs some type of GE, as the lids are air tight.

Hell yeah man. I wish I had a closet like that to dedicate to mycology!! I'm thinking about buying a storage closet and using that eventually. But for now I am stuck in my closet. I want to move to mono tubs to, after my next couple of 10 jar batches. Mono tubs look awesome. Keep posted please. You should check out my cakes, PFTek. Also, my 1st grow log. Second time cultivator. Trying to post lots of pics.

lol thanks for the kind words. I flipped the jars after finding it highly suggested in many posts in the message boards it seemed to be the way to go once i flip them they are pretty much left alone to prevent to much disruption in the dry vermiculite layer and there still seems to be ample room to allow air flow in. As far as the pans yes i have modified some extra lids i had with five holes covered with micro pore tape and switched them out just had not had a chance to do it before I snapped the pics.

just a few updated pictures with the modified lids and a few pics of some growth think everything is looking good but please feel free to let me know if something does not look right. And before anyone yells at me for taking the lids off it is a clean room with limited air flow i have it setup that way for a reason lmao.

that early on opening the lids wont send it into fruiting, cubes arent THAT sensative to fresh air, as long as you didnt fuck around when swapping out the lids, and dont make it a habbit youll be straight, you could of just poked a couple holes in the lids, personally i just loosely cling wrap the top, keep up the good work, and quit flipping your pf jars

I won't yell but the point is to limit FAE at this point until a higher level of colonization is achieved. Cover those puppies and don't peek.

Colonization = no fresh air / high co2 / high humidity Fruiting = high fresh air / low co2 / high humidity
Correct where wrong please. Having a good time typing on these forums!

after these are done their should not be anymore pf jars lol im planning to move on to grains and i don't make a habit of taking the lids off i can actually see thru them to a point only took them off to swap the lids out and snap photos at the same time. But yeah I seem to be getting a lot of advice now saying not to flip the jars so even if i do keep with PFtek i wont be flipping them anymore

If you introduce FAE before full colonization, the you are giving contams a chance to colonize the substrate before the mycellium.
Not to mention YES IT COULD induce fruiting/early pinning.

Don't introduce any FAE until it's time to fruit. Only GE during the colonization phase. Keep fucking around and you could stall colonization or get early pinning. Even contamination.

well as i said i had to change out the lids originaly there where no holes at all for GE and i was advised to correct that issue lids where only off for a few seconds i appreciate all the feed back and i dont make a habit of taking the lids off.I am aware of the risk of contams but didnt want to smother them either i know there where better ways to fix the issue but cant turn back the clock now thanks again for the input please keep it comeing as i am still trying to learn

Yep. Cover em up until theyre fully colonized and dont peek for a while until you cann see through the lid that it is fully colonized then introduce to fruiting conditions which would be reduced temperatures, FAE, lighting (debatable), and high RH.
Enjoy. I need to make some benches or something like that in my closet. I have about double that space and could use it muuuuuch more wisely.
EDIT: I would cover the holes with duck tape and then remove it for fruiting conditions and re-add the micropore tape.

Are you planning on fruiting those trays, by humidifying your entire closet setup? I foresee problems down the road with high humidity and particle board

nope i have 4 SGFC made up and ready to go just have to add the perlite once the trays are ready to go in. I have 12 more jars finishing that i am going to do the same method thus the reason for 4 FCs, then im moving on to mono tubs.

Blargh, regurgitate regurgitate, regurgitate , I fully understand how to initiate pinning. Unless he spawned in a clean room he's already got all the contam he needs to contam the fuck out of it ...... Ive opened plenty of tubs for split moments for one reason or the other and never had one blast off into fruiting when the substrate is at 25%,50%,75%, have you, did it start fruiting after 5 seconds of fae, no ? they fruit when they're ready. Swapping the lids on those casing's will MOST LIKELY NOT, set it off fruiting.I wonder how spores don't instantly fruit soon as their dropped and colonize a tiny bit....... oh that's right it takes a healthy amount of moisture evaporation at the substrate surface, along with some lumens, and for the myc to be ready, not just a cunt hair of fae against a partially colonized chuck of coir..... Lolzor.

ok just want to throw out a quick update all the trays are starting to colonize on the top getting some nice looking coverage. Sorry no pictures didnt want to take lids off the trays and due to the lids being red you cant really see anything if i try to take pics with the lids on. Also my other set of 12 jars has finished up i have moved those into bulk trays using the same methods as before i did however change the amount of crumbled jars to 6 per tray giving a 1:1 ratio. Already started to gather what i need to move on to grains will be changing the whole setup to mono tubs instead of SGFC allowing for substantially more fun lol. Will update with pics as soon as the trays are finished up and i move them into fruiting.
