mycelium stall on birdseed, bacteria?
    #1719561 - 07/16/03 12:06 AM (13 years, 7 months ago)

Anyone ever had bacteria become present halfway through the colonization that has really slowed things down a lot? I've got filters so I know it's not a gas exchange issue..

question is, are the jars still going to fully colonize?

Yes, bacteria slows down colonization.
You should toss it if it's indeed bacterial contamination.

dude had some WBS cakes that were about 85% colonized but then developed the brown-slime contam that WBS is apparently prone to. he birthed the cakes, scraped off the contaminated area and soaked them in bleach solution for 24 hours, then spawned them to horse dung. everything worked out fine.

My friend had some of the brown slime like stuff on the bottom of his jars too. He tossed the chunks that were heavily saturated with slime, and those with just a little were crumbled into a casing. No ill side affects were seen in his casings, and they have since fruited nicely!
