yes you need spores to start growing. and no naturally there aren't spores in manure, but sometimes a cow eats a shroom or some grass with spores on it that's how they get in there. looks like you need to do a lot more reading before you grow...

Of course spores are needed for mushrooms to grow.

What did you think? They don't just magically appear. I'm anxious to hear this one...

This is really general knowledge, like something you would learn in High School biology.

No, technically you don't NEED spores. You can clone an existing mushroom. But, guessing your level of experience with mushroom growing, I'd say starting from spores is the way to go for you. That is, after you've read some more about the subject...

BTW, I'm not sure this post belongs in the Hunting section...

Which brings up the question: Who came first, the chicken or the egg?

Just kidding around. You bring up a valid point that I did not think of before. I don't think that anyone asking that question would have any clue as to how to go about cloning though.

No, exactly, I only suggested it for completeness. But I agree with you, I don't think stinkynuts is very aware of the process of cloning shrooms.

About the chicken and the egg: obviously the egg came first. There have been many species around laying eggs before the chicken evolved

Once again, a thought unthunk by me. I am humbled.

Again, the answer is obvious: the creatures that laid the first eggs came before the eggs. It even says so in the bible: God created all them animals, not eggs!

But I'm sorry for fucking up someone else's post. I will refrain from further joking in this thread, and only post when I have something on-topic to say. (Sure enjoyed a good laugh though... )
