Heart Attack Pie! - Put your heart (and kitchen) to work... 1

This recipie originated out of a quasi-Atkins based crustless quiche - however I soon dubbed my variation Heart Attack Pie, whence during baking I noticed huge pools of fat bubbling all over the pie with fury and flavour! Not for the faint of heart, or those on low-fat diets, but definitely one for the rest of us who love to immerse ourselves in tastyness
Here's how this is going to work; I'm going to present you with a basic recipie for this masterpiece and then you, yes you (the ones reading this) are going to try your hand at baking your own Heart Attack Pie using whichever ingredients and variation on cooking method you prefer. Your mission? To make an incredibly delicious and fattening entree that anyone who has love for caloric intake is sure to get wet over!
Don't forget to report back with your findings or what works or what fails miserably
So without further ado, I bring you the not so secret recipie for Heart Attack Pie
All measurements and cooking times are general and should be adjusted to your own method & taste
Ingredients- 1 lb. Ground Beef
- 1 cup Chopped Onion
- 8 - 16 Strips of Bacon
- 6-8 ounces Cheddar Cheese
- 1/2 cup Mayo
- 1/2 cup Cream or Half&Half
- 3 Eggs
- Some type of Pepper
- Deep Baking Pan
Allright, now let's get dirty
Layer half of your bacon on the bottom of your baking pan to form a base for your pie.

Brown your Beef & Onions on High Heat (not shown: Fry remaining bacon and chop into pieces)

To prepare the top layer of your pie, combine the eggs/mayo/cream and whip until smooth.

Then pile in grated cheese and stir until evenly dispersed.

An optional step, you could just add ground black pepper to taste or whatever you wish. Here I added a couple fresh cayenne peppers with the chopped bacon into the beef/onion mixture.

Layer the above mixture on top of the bacon-strip base of the baking pan

Once you have that evened out, go ahead and evenly spread your egg/mayo/cream/cheese mixture over the whole thing.

Pop in a pre-heated oven at 350?F for 45-60 minutes or until top is golden brown and the pie has become firm.

Let stand for 4-5 minutes outside of the oven and sprinkle with sliced green onion.

Slice and serve with some hot chili peppers to cut the fat Pictured is a sweet tomato, baby onion, and Mexican Style en Escabeche carrot/chili peppers.

Now get cookin' - don't be afraid to mix it up a bit! Add more.. add less.. cook longer, etc-- Just make sure it's fattylicious!

Mmmm. Heart attacks...
That looks pretty tasty.
Today is my last day eating as I am about to begin a 7 day fast. For the last 5 days I have only eaten raw vegatables and fruits. Consequently, I have found myself reading this forum more and more. I even went all the way back and read every thread from the begining.
It's been a little hard, but I expect the next few days to be far harder.
But when I am finally able to eat again, this will one of the dishes I'll try. I bet food is gonna taste so good.

I laugh at everyone who WASN'T there...muahahahahahhaaaa...
Delicious, as usual. Geo has set new standards in college-stoner cooking.
I like mine with a little tapatio on top. Actually....ALOT of tapatio. I remember killing geo's bottle over the course of that weekend. Delish....

No this was my first fast, and it ended today. Pretty amazing experience. I plan on making a thread detailing my experiences later.
This was really just a stepping stone as I am now planning a 30 day juice fast probably in April.

Finally making this today
thanks as always geokills
Probably adding some paprika and eating it with potatoes. Probably leaving the mayo out though; never heated up mayo before.

Haha, wow, I can't believe this post is almost 9 years old. I haven't made one of these pies in literally ages. Check out my Shepard's Pie for a similar, albeit a bit more refined recipe: Link to Shepard's Pie
And if you do/did make this one, post a pic!

Yeah I was a bit reluctant when it said no posts since 3000 days ago
Anyhow it ended up as an ordinary oven dish; I really wanted your crust but I guess I did something wrong.
[image] [/image] Princess beans(?), potatoes, cubes of bacon, minced meat, onion and freshly picked peppers from the garden
 everything together...
[image] [/image] What it looked like on the table. Not quite like yours but it was tasty anyhow cheers
Oh shit that shephards pie is even more divine
