do my salvia cuttings look alright?
    #1716384 - 07/14/03 11:50 PM (13 years, 7 months ago)

I just recieved two salvia cuttings in the mail today. They were packed pretty well and still had some moisture in them. A lot of the leaves are brown, and ones stem is really limp. I put them in a mixture (aproximately) 2 parts humus mix, 2 parts (good) potting soil. And a fair amount of perlite as you can see. My question is, do you think these plants will do alright? And also, should I make a humidity tent for them?. Peace.

Looks fine, a bit frail but give it a a few days and it should stand up straight.

My salvia cutting looked the same after their ordeal in the postal system but they look much more healthy now, i started with a humidity tent but abandoned it in preference of misating a couple of times a day & they seem to have responded much better to that.
here is a picture of them

when i got mine in the mail. one turned brown over 3 days and i was sure it was a gonner. the other i was able to save. but the one with the browned leaves came back to life with some new nodes at the bottom of the main stem. as long as it has proper conditions
atleast 50$ humidity
good soil
not too much light
it willl grow back
nothing to worry about

peace

looks like you got good light fluro? Well thats what i got my under as for humidity you plants are in shock. Imbetting your plants came from a green house where the prime growing conitions. Mist daily and you get the plants to come back to life. The new leaves will be smaller and more adapt to the change in her world.

You really should have a humidity dome or cover on top. That will reduce the transpiration and they'll throw adventitious roots faster. Though they will strike in average 50% to 60% R/H. But I prefer a higher humidity for striking.

Hydro striked salvia, nutes Bio-Mix at clone strength regime, flood every 6hrs for 15 minutes, working solution temp 22C. Light fluro.

Yeah just make one with a tomado cage and put plastic around it.
If it's really cold outside and its near a window they won't do that good :/
