Clintons record broken.
    #1714997 - 07/14/03 06:16 PM (13 years, 8 months ago)

Now this is the stuff Bush does (or doesn't do) that pisses me off.

CLINTON?S RECORD BROKEN
George Bush has broken a Clinton record, though not one to be proud of. The Federal Register ? the publication that lists all proposed and enacted federal regulations ? increased to 75,606 pages in 2002. That breaks the previous record set by Bill Clinton in 2000.

You need to know that these federal regulations cost businesses (and, ultimately, the consumers) in America more than all business income taxes combined.

During 2002 Congress passed 269 new laws. During the same year regulatory agencies passed 4,167 final rules. Not one of these rules was then subjected to congressional oversight.

Some more things to think about when considering Bush?s record in the White House.

Federal government spending under Bush has increased at a rate faster than of any year during the Clintonista era.

George Bush has yet to veto one single spending bill.

George Bush has teamed up with congressional Democrats to pass massive spending increases in education, agriculture and other areas.

George Bush has been in office for almost three years, and has yet to recommend the elimination of one single government-spending program.

I'm a registered Libertarian. I'll vote that way when they have a candidate that stands a chance of winning. Nothing would please me more.

Well maybe one or two things.

I am right there with you LDS. He should win in a landslide. The moderate libs will love a lot of the spending, and I just don't think the Dems have a candidate that can beat him.

Both parties are huge spenders....
The Democrats tax and spend while the Republicans borrow and spend.

While I knew Bush was a huge spender, it's very strange to hear that Bush has been soft on regulations though... regulations are why they say liberals "love big government."

Shakta, many said the same thing of his daddy, who was even more popular around this time.... look what happened to him.

What pisses me off is that he's weakening rules that protect the environment. Here in Ohio it's already so polluted the EPA says not to eat the fish you catch because they'll give you cancer. You can't even eat the godamn fish!!! When it's safe enough to eat the fish we can talk about what regulations are unnecessary!

Exactly.  Republicans always cry for "less Government", and then they create  the largest new government bureaucracy in history: the Department of  Homeland Security.  :shake:

The largest? By what measure? Number of employees? Budget?

The largest bureaucracy in both employees and budget is Department of HHS (Health and Human Services). Budget of over 500 billion. DOD (Department of Defense) budget is a paltry 367 billion.

Nope. If enough had voted for a libertarian, Gore would be President.

Now THAT would be a bad thing.

Vote Libertarian if you like the party. Don't wait for some far off day where one of them has a chance.

That's the only way we're ever going to change our corrupt "two party" system.

There's not a chance in the world I can agree with that.

Candidate A is completely evil. Let's say he runs at 46% in the polls.
Candidate B is fairly evil. Let's say he runs at 49% in the polls.
Candidate C is a good guy. He's drawing 5% but......

People want to make a statement so some from A & B vote for C who still cannot possibly win. Enough votes may be siphoned from B to put A into office.
Your "statement" may have been what helped to put A, a totally evil guy, into office.

We both know each others stance on Bush so I'm surprised you don't see this as Nader alone probably sapped enough votes from Gore to put Bush into office.

It's one of the few good things Nader has done.

Come on, Gore a totally evil guy? How is he more evil than Bush?

LDS, I particularly find it a travesty that you would call that "one of the few good things Nader has done,"... Nader is a man who has dedicated himself to helping other people and you just dismiss him because he's a leftist.

BTW, Nader didn't cost Gore the presidency, an inaccurate purge list created by independent firm, DataBase Technologies, did.
