I think that the substrate being too wet is probably the most common reason. (or a bacterial contam, but this can usually be seen and/or smell in time)
Good luck,

The best answer I can give you is not scientific. Patience is the first lesson a grower needs to learn. Your first cakes can seem to know this and grow extra slow just so you learn patience well.
Scientifically, it sounds like some moisture collected in the bottom of the jar, by tipping it, you should see quicker colonization.

yeah, ive been pretty patient and im still being patient
and what is "tipping"? is it just the same thing as flipping the jars over cause if so, then i have already done that

Yup. By flipping the jar, the excess moisture should move into the colonized part of the cake, making the uncolonized part more suitable for colonization. At least in theory. This may speed things up.

I have B+, Koh Samui Super, and Pink Buffalo??? What can I say, I like variety. My last grow was Brazilian and current is Corumba. I would just use them all but have no funding for the things I need to make this happen. So this is my deli-ma. Any preferences and opinions much appreciated. Thanks!

Yes there is. But the differences are often minor.
Sporeworks is the only company I know that focuses on differently appearing cubes.
For the most part, other than PE, you have albinos and red spores. Menace Strain, and Koh Samui can be interesting as well.

Personally, I like B+.
A true classic.
I hate KSS and KSSS though, every time Ive done those I get short stubby fruits with a horrible pinset.
However, they are solid chunky lil fruits.

It has been alleged, by a disgruntled former Spores101 employee, that they relabel a single variety of cubensis as what the customer orders.

I just wanted to confirm this statement that I found online that "these two species need 50 degrees F to grow/fruit." I am looking to grow them in the future and am trying to soak up some info
P. azurescens 1.78% psilocybin
P. cyanescens 0.85% psilocybin

Generally, yes. Once you get Ps. cyan to pin (at lower temp) you can fruit it out higher, but IME the best fruit quality comes with the lower temps.
Also I'd take those % measures with a lump of salt, they're not a reliable guide. Woodlovers vary all over the place in actual potency and composition of the active alkaloids, you also want to look at the psilocin content as well as the various indole alkaloids.

Is that only for the cyans? I am new to wood lovers so I am learning what I can. I threw in those % ratios to see people's reaction.
