Hey everyone,
Just got back from a 20 mile hike of shenandoah valley....beautiful terrain....
anyway, my question is that i saw at least 15 different species of mushroom growing EVERYWHERE...i have never gone actual mushroom hunting, and would like to know if any active species grows in this area. And if they exist, what would the shroom look like.
Just for background I found pure yellow shrooms, pure bright red shrooms, many tan shrooms, one purple shroom, lots of white shrooms, etc. Hope there is something there to force me to go back and hunt!

How are we supposed to tell you if any active species grow in Shenandoah Valley, if we don't even know what Country it's in, let alone the climate, ect.?

Dude before you go hunting for trippy shrooms do yourself a big favor and buy a mushroom field guide and do a little reading around here. The last thing you need is to be picking things to get high on without knowing the first thing about mushrooms that are poisonous.

Check the FAQ. There's a lot there on what the active species are, the states and provinces they've found in, and their habitats.
Happy mushrooming!
