finding stuff out about bands can ruin the music...
    #1712603 - 07/13/03 08:31 PM (20 years, 8 months ago)

I thought flogging molly was from ireland.. when I found out they were from california.. it took something from the music.. a little bit of the authenticity it had.. a little bit of the magic..

I just started downloading the angry samoans thinking they were from th emid 60's.. only to find out they were from the 80s... again, magic lost.. =\

Don't you hate it when this happens?

yah, or when you go to a concert and realize the lead singer to your favorite band is a complete fucking jerkoff.... (this didn't happen to me, but I can see it happening.... and also sucking, a lot)

I kind of know what you mean, but to me, a great album is a great album no matter who made it. I mean, I fucking hate Oasis, but if they made a good album I'd still enjoy it even though they are a bunch of up-their-own-arse louts.

If a band is good, a band is good. Don't let small things ruin it for you. Sure, some of them are assholes, and they might not look the way you expected them to, or live where you thought they did. But it's the MUSIC we like here, not the band's personality.

Yeah one time I met the basist from stone temple pilots and he made some kind of smart ass coment to me. I felt kinda weird listening to their music for a while after that, but I got over it. I kind of dont want to meet my favorite rock stars because I would be devastated if they acted like a dick, seems like it would taint the music forever.

Sheepish is right, but it makes me wince every time somebody from a band I like says something stupid in an interview. Just goes to show you shouldn't idolize anybody, we're all human.

when i found out the rumors about castaneda, my INTENSE interest in his works was immediately pummeled. Its still amazing, but authenticity goes a long long ways.

reminds me of how much I enjoyed Sublime until the singer overdosed on heroin and died..

I can't listen to it in the same light anymore - heh sometimes just realizing what somebody's talking about in a song can kind of spoil it for you.

edit: but hey, I think musicians are all weirdos  I don't think many of them would disagree

Insert an "I think" mentally in front of eveything I say that seems sketchy, because I certainly don't KNOW much. Also; feel free to yell at me.

so if your favourite rocker fucked your girlfriend, would you still love his music?

Capt. Sensible from the damned is an asshole

Jessie michals from op ivy and common rider(tho there both broken up) is a reallllyyyy spaced out guy, but is quite friendly.

meeting people dosent realyl change it a whole lot, but i can imagine if Paul Mcccartny was fucking my girlfriend i might not be able to listen to the beatles

Of course I would. Hell, if Maynard fucked my girlfriend, I would quite happy about it. In fact, if she had a chance to fuck a rock star, I would say "Go for it".

my fave is michael hutchence accidently suffocating himself to death whilst trying to enhance the pleasures of masturbation.

whynot get into 'the residents'? for over 30 years they have been playing and releasing cutting edge music (admittedly they are out on their own tangent) but they have yet to reveal their identities or show their faces. nobody knows who they are.
no ego's to get in the way.

What I hate most is when you read a lyric sheet and it turns out the lyrics to a song are totally different from the ones you've been singing in your head.

I have been both pleasantly and unpleasantly surprised by reading lyric sheets.  some times the actual lyrics are cooler, but sometimes I prefer mine
