Bluish green.....mold?
    #1713101 - 07/14/03 01:39 AM (13 years, 9 months ago)

I read through about 15pages of this message board and only found two things thats addressed my problem: that being that ive got 6 cakes set up in a terranium, that ive been spraying and giving air to 2-3 times a day. basically theres blue-green spots of mycellium on about 4 of my cakes, 2 of them were pretty bad and i freaked and threw them out, but then i read here that some people keep them and eat the shrooms anyways, my question is, is that safe? or should i throw them out, i dont want to do that but if its the only way to save the last 2 cakes in there, then i will. :,-(
Also:on the two cakes i threw out, the caps were black/blue on some, and the shrooms looked a bit deformed, the rest look fine except for some blue-green blotches, i really have no clue how they got contaminated, the mycellium was pure white when they came out of the jars...and i havent bumped them or tipped them so its not bruising :frown:
Also also: my terranium is a strofoam container with wire mesh on the bottom and a metal drip shield...

it only takes a tiny amount of bruising to turn them blue. is it a growth like mold? or is it compressed mycelium which is blue.
is it more blue than green?
