    #1711958 - 07/13/03 04:36 PM (20 years, 8 months ago)

when does one know when it is time to move on from the simple pf style of growing and apply more advanced techniques. any clues anyone?

anytime is good - as soon as you did it successfully once, move on.

my progression was something like: pf cakes > pf cakes, cased > and again, better casing > birdseed, cased > birdseed in straw > and again > and again with poo added and better cased > printing and syringemaking > more of the same...

there's a lot to try (agar, other psych species, edibles, honey teks, outdoor growing, cloning, dowels and logs, wild specimen collection, etc etc etc)

get busy playing with it. mycology is the best hobby around.  :heartpump: :nut:

move on to casings asap.... they are the key to all other teks...
try coir+verm+oystershell...
its cheap and effective.....

while your at it, might as well do WBS substrate.... its MUCH easier than you think, 7$ will get you a 40lbs bag of seed, and another coulple bucks will get you all teh quart jars u need....
stop off at teh post office and get some free tyvek and your set!!

check out 6T's WBS tek.... its monkey proof....

i hope u have a pressure cooker by now.... you cant go very far without one...

start printmaking and syringemaking NOW.... with clean print methods you will be self-reliant, and will be able to trade for new strains......

good luck

oh btw im doin ok on prints and syringes, i have this neat little method of using very thick tin foil( so it doesn't bend easy). i put it in a 1/2 pint jar thro it in the oven at 230 for abuot 2 hours or so, then in my sterile environment invert the jar remove the base and place the cap. it works pretty good,
