so does anyone own a biolite stick burning camp stove that can charge usb devices? i'm considering getting one, but i'm concerned about the durability and long term longevity of the whole system.

Interesting concept.. not sure how practical it is though, not seen those before. I'd probably be concerned too. Would probably look for reviews.

For charging devices I have one of these. Pretty damn efficient and amazing. Just putting that thing in full sun will charge a smartphone from dead to full in ~2-3hours.
And it recharges batteries too. And you can charge the battery pack and use that to charge your phone.

i mostly want a durable and efficient stick stove and ran into this thing. honestly i think it has too many moving parts to last long term, but it would kick ass if it did. you can't get solar anytime you want it, and there's almost always something to burn, even if only sagebrush. i doubt anyone on here owns one, but you never know. i use a propane stove in my airstream now, but have always used msr camp stoves outdoors for their accuracy in temperature and durability. i see pop rivets in the biolite picture, and that reminds me of coleman quality crap.

yeah it is interesting concept but I would also be concerned about the durability long term.

A few reviews for this stove can be found on youtube. A friend of mine purchased one a couple weeks ago but hasn't had the chance to use it yet, we will be testing it out later this fall.

I think the USB port is only practical for emergencies as you have to stuff twigs into this thing for four hours to get a decent charge. The main selling point is having a convection stove with a fan that recharges it self.

I believe you also need to pre-charge the battery before operation, I may be wrong..

yeah, i read all of that on the site. the battery can be precharged with the stove too. i really don't use devices other than my basic cell phone anyway.
