Is this bitch gonna hammer the north east ??  A year ago almost to the day we got snow up to our ass.  This warms me up, though...Bruce and Sandy .

I'm in NYC from the day it's supposed to hit until the day it's supposed to pass. Wonderful!

I'm actually kind of secretly excited for the prospect of snow so soon. I love snow when I don't have to drive anywhere and I felt like I didn't get to experience nearly enough last year.

I'm looking forward to it. Been a while since we had a decent hurricane.

Posted about this early :FeelsIgnoredMan:. I think it's going to be cool. We had Irene summer of last year and the "Frankenstorm" Sandy for the fall this year. It's been a good couple of years for the North East in terms of weather.

The wind speed is supposedly 75 mph to 85 mph by the time it really hits the East Coast. It looks like mischief night finally came before Halloween :ooo:

The real damage comes with the rain though, hence the devastating effect Irene had on New England. This time there's also a chance of a storm coming from the west & meeting up with Sandy. That could really spice things up a bit.

They were saying it was gonna it NYC, but the predicted storm path has changed and it's now looking like Baltimore is fucked. Either way, this storm is about the size of Texas, anywhere from VA to MA is going to get an assload of rain.

Projected path:

Last year's Hurricane Irene killed 5 people, right?

This storm already killed 40 across the Caribbeans and hasn't even reached its maximum potential. I'm very excited and eager to see what will take place next Monday and Tuesday

It has already reached it's maximum potential in terms of power. Top wind speed was around 110mph, it's not going to get any stronger than that, it'll be downgraded to a tropical storm by tomorrow morning. I'm guessing it MIGHT get back up to 80-85mph.

As far as damage potential, yeah, there's a lot of potential there because it's hitting the most populated region in the United States.

Depends on the size of the person, but yeah, that's possible. I'm 6'5" and 230lbs and I had trouble maintaining balance in 55mph winds.

i think it is going to be pretty diluted from what was being forecasted, but linger for awhile and drench everything, really nice this time of year imo

...and then we are going to get walloped without warning with snow sometime in the near future, which would be really nice also

Nahhh they'll just do the usual for the snow storms. "We can expect about 3-4 inches of snow from this storm in the greater NYC area." Wake up the next day, 10-15 inches on the ground.

i hope so, snow would be refreshing

from what i can tell from google earth it looks like its slowing down...except for the big massive swirls of weather coming from the east and north as well, but idk

Yeah it's looking really unorganized right now. I'm anxious to see if it reorganizes with a defined eye again.

As long as you don't live in an area prone to flooding you'll be fine, might get a day or two off of work/school if you're lucky.
