Question for air exchange in jars

Hi, I was wondering how tight or loose the jar lids should be before and after boiling them in a pot for 1 1\2 hours.

I agree with batman that it doesn't matter. If you still want to do it anyways, the standard is 1/4 turn.

the grey squirrel noticed (some) tanning of mycelium in jars with lids that had their innoc points taped, evenw ith the lid on u[pside down. he turns his jars upside down and the other way, every few days. seems to work better for him

Keep your lids on tight. After you inject the jars put the tape back on. In about two weeks when you see that the myc has taken hold remove the tape and turn the jar over. Never took longer then 3 weeks to colonize when doing this. I like to put a coffee filter over the top when I remove the tape just to be safe.
