1st Grow - Dunking Question, Help Appreciated - Using MycoBox Grow Kit **PICS ADDED**

Hi, I am attempting my 1st grow and am very unfamiliar with the whole cultivation process. Ive been colonising my cake for nearly 3 weeks and am close to full colonisation. I will upload pics soon. I've done loads of research but haven't seen anybody mention dunking whilst using the mycobox grow kit and am not sure if anything differs from using a homemade method.
The actual dunking method is simple enough. Just dunk the cake in water for 24 hours right? Before I dunk the cake though should I remove the top layer of the cake that didn't colonise or do I not touch it? And when I remove the dunked cake from the water, do I put it straight onto the vermiculite, in the tray that comes with the kit, or should I place something underneath the cake so it doesn't make contact with the verm? And also, if I place something under the cake to stop contact, what is the point of the verm even being there?
If somebody could point me in the right direction I'd very much appreciate it! I'm looking forwards to the fruiting process so want the grow to be as successful as possible
Here is my cake, each picture is rotated a 1/3 of a whole rotation so you can see the whole cake.

In my kit ive got the cake, a tray of vermiculite, and a big ziplock style bag without the ziplock. My instructions tell me to birth the cake, upside down in the vermiculite thats in the tray, then to put the tray and cake into the bag and close the bag with paperclips.
After ive dunked and rolled the cake do i still follow those procedures or do i do something differently? Ive seen people say to put something between the cake and the vermiculite when you birth it so it doesnt make contact and thats different to what my instructions say so was unsure of which way to do it. This is all i need to know. thanks.
Thanks a lot!

Never used a grow out. But when I started out I seen videos on YouTube. All you do is open the lid and fill it with water. Let the water sit ontop with the lid closed for 24 hours.
search for it on YouTube and watch the guides.

Dont dunk it till it is fully colonized and consolidated!! Have some patience! Let it grow out first, then dunk for 24 hrs in water, tap is fine, then roll in the verm they gave you and put back in the fancy little box

Once you think it is fully colonized, wait another week to be sure. Cakes are very susceptible to contaminants as they are very rich in nutrients which molds use to grow on.

not ready to birth yet, but they look good. Sounds like a fairly primitive fruiting chamber. You could prolly wip something better than that up in the time you have left. A small shotgun terrarium would work better than the bag (look it up!) seems like ventiliation is gonna be an issue in a bag like that but i am not familiar with the kit. No matter what, you need: 1. light 2. Fresh air exchange (look it up!) Note: the very top of the jar is a non nutritive vermiculite layer that acts as a filter. it will never colonize and you should shake it off the cake before you dunk it. DO NOT CUT INTO THE CAKE!

I was thinking that the vermiculite in the separate tray that I've got has some kind of importance with the fruiting process? Is this not the case? So my shrooms will only grow from the cake itself? So after I've dunked and rolled my cake, do I still put it upside down in my tray of vermiculite? This is the only bit I am now slightly unsure of. My instructions tell me to put the colonised cake upside down in the tray of vermiculite but the instructions don't tell me to dunk and roll.
Sorry if it's hard to understand what I'm actually trying to ask lol.
Right, basically, once ive dunked and rolled my cake, if I then birth my cake onto a tray of vermiculite, and put it in the bag provided, should my cake fruit?
And by the way, I know my cake isn't quite ready to dunk yet, I'm probably going to give it 3 - 4 days or so after it seems fully colonised until i dunk unless you guys really don't think thats long enough?
Thanks a a lot. I almost feel like my cake is my baby, I don't wanna mess it up haha.

It wont hurt to set them on the verm but it isnt necessary once you have dunked and rolled. just be sure they are on something solid like a plastic lid or plate. i like to set them on a square of aluminum foil on an upside down plate. some folks using a sg terrarium will set the squares of foil right on the perlite. make sure whatever you set it on doesnt trap water; make it convex like an upside down plate.

If you build a shotgun fc then the brf cake sits on a small piece of foil on a bed of perlite.

Okay thanks alot. I'm probably just going to use the bag that came with the kit for this grow for convenience rather than build a shotgun. Thanks for your help.
