I'm working on refining my agar work and would like to see pictures of agar work that you have done too. I'm still learning about sectors, isolating, etc. so anything you have to tell me about the pictures would be helpful as well! Cubensis, edibles, medicinals, contams, whatever! I wish there were more pictures of agar work available is all.
Here are some of my own:
 Mazatapec, 3rd transfer.
Penis Envy, 3rd transfer. Isolate? Unsure.
Z-Strain, 3rd transfer, isolate.
Z-strain, 3rd transfer, looking all sorts of crazy.

That was a tissue sample from a MS PF-tek grow from a big fruit on one of my cakes, took about 5 transfers and I have 6 other isolates besides that one of that clone, fruiting them each out next to eliminate the less desirable ones. Surprisingly there was no rhisomorphic growth from this fruit.

That is beautiful. Now, is that a single sector that I'm looking at, or two sectors? Also, my PE uncut plates never get very rhizomorphic for me. Generally it's very thick, puffy myc. Very nice work

The first pic is of the first agar project I did. I poured it too thick and the specimen was not the best. After about 3 or 4 transfers, the end result was not to bad. I didn't get a chance to take a pic of the agar before I transferred it to some rye, but here it is on the rye. It's amazing to see the difference between the beginning and end results of a agar project.

Wanted to say thanks to everyone on this thread for being so helpful. My first agar plates are starting to show growth today, little mycelium dots all over the place with No contams yet.

This is one of my first spore iso projects. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/17051099
I thought the white was mold but its just Monokaryotic mycelium.
I'll get a lot more up in the next 24hrs if you want. I have agar work from dishes and tubes. (mainly clones)
Will be doing another 100-300 isolates shortly as well since I have a bunch of colonized dishes.
Have you done any iso work yet? Do you know how to pick the best part of the dish?

I don't fully understand isolating yet so I'm doing my homework on it but I have a pretty good idea how it works. Any advice would be appreciated.
Also I give up on cakes too lolz but they were a great learning experience and still have their uses.

What parts do you not understand? Isolating from spores or from a fresh mushroom?

Just wondering what the genetically best stuff would look like, or if repeatedly isolating would somehow lead to getting a better strain.
