getting caught

my friend told me a story about a guy who got caught growing illegally in the US due to a raise in his electric bill. I was under the impression that the cultivation of mushrooms did not require alot of wattage even in a very large setup. Do you guys think this person is bullshitting or is this a common thing?

Sounds like total BS - growing cannabis requires a lot of wattage for grow lights.

Growing shrooms... lets see... even if you have a monster setup of like 4 big-ass terrariums...  (ok maybe that's not so monster but still ) :smile:

4 lights, 25-50 watts each.
4 humidifiers 150 watts each (guess)

ummmm.... stove?

A large stereo would use more power than an average or even above average setup, especially since you don't run any of those things 24/7.

No, it's possible. If you are really into growing mushrooms you could get busted that way, it is highly improbable though. YOu would need a room with like... 10 straw logs in it or something with 2 HID's, 5 HEPA filters and 10 humidifiers. I doubt even stamets has a setup like that lol. It would be possible though.
