Incompatible Scalpel blade and Handle?

Video related. Am I a fool or did mycosupply send me the wrong blades with the scalpel? (I ordered both together, I mean come on..). I've been using an Xacto knife for working with cultures, so I have little experience with scalpels.
If this is their bust then that makes 3 items in one order that are completely useless. (They sent me dusk masks to work with cultures.. -.-)
Let me know if I'm just derping it up.

i almost did same thing but i was able to fix it before i emailed the screenie. you have to order the scalpel and the blades seperate and you have to make sure you pick the right pack of blades. if the scalpel came with a blade im sure its the right one
i also had to google how to install the blade

I did some searching as well, and watched a few videos but can't get the damned thing attached.
I ordered them together on the website
Invoice says "Regular steel scalpel handle Blades for regular steel scalpel - 5 pack"
There were no options to choose except for long handle scalpel blade or regular. The blade seems to long to fit correctly

Nope. If you look at my video, when the blade is in the position it's suppose to lock there's a good centimeter of the bottom of the blade going onto the handle.
I came across that exact video on youtube.

I see. My blade says 22 and the handle says 3. Is there a reference as to what these numbers indicate?
Finally found an answer, thanks to twisted pointing out the numbers to me. If anyone runs into this issue in the future:
There's a table on this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scalpel
Blade Compatible Handles #22 2, 4, 5, 6
Looks like mycosupply did dick me over.

The No.22 is a large version of the No.10 blade with a curved cutting edge and a flat, unsharpened back edge. Used for skin incisions in both cardiac and thoracic surgrey and to cut the bronchus in lung resection surgery. Larger than the No.20 and No.21 the No.22 fits handles 4, 4L, 4 Graduated & 6B

Really unhappy with this sponsor. I'll see how they handle my complaint via e-mail.

Sometimes they can be tricky... I used a Xactro knife for ages before upgrading to a scalpel.
To get the blade to lock on mine you have to lock it half way on then gently push it against a wood surface and it will snap into place. Dumb idea to try it any other way because one slipup and you're off to the ER for stitches. :p
You using petri dishes or tubes for your agar work?

I use a small pair of electrical pliers to handle the scalpel. The ones I have used require the blade to be placed over the raised land on the handle and either pulled up or down the scalpel handle to lock the blade.
Use thin nose pliers and it becomes much easier to handle the blade.
