Is it necessary to scrape uncased monotubs or trays?

I saw an old post where RR said that scraping cased tubs was bogus.  What about uncased, or is it equally bogus?

I remember reading it was bogus as well. I can't imagine it wouldn't be the same if it was uncased. You'd really just be killing the top layer of myc, which seems unnecessary, unless there's overlay, which is apparently ridiculously rare.

Equally bogus.  The only reason I'm aware of to scrape the surface of a substrate is to combat overlay.

No, it's far worse to scrape an uncased bulk substrate.  It takes you from bogus to absolute destruction.  Don't abuse your mycelium.
