Psathyrella conopilus changed to Parasola conopila?
    #17033581 - 10/15/12 03:38 AM (11 years, 4 months ago)

I was just informed that this single species of Psathyrella is now to be
considered a coprinoid mushroom. Firstly I'm wondering if this is indeed
the case - and secondly how and why this has been done?

I see quite a lot of this species around at the moment, and I could swear
that I have never seen it liquify in the manner of the typical coprinoid species.

Not all coprinoid mushrooms deliquesce, although it is common it is by no means a defining feature of coprinoid mushrooms.

As far as I am aware no Parasola spp. deliquesce.

Larsson & Örstadius transferred Psathyrella conopilus to Parasola in this publication, because phylogenetic studies showed it to be more closely related to Parasola than Psathyrella. The new combination is Parasola conopilus
