Los Angeles Mycological Society lecture
    #17032895 - 10/14/12 11:26 PM (11 years, 5 months ago)

I should have posted this a while ago.  Oops.  :ohwell:
Well anyway, if you're free tomorrow evening, I'm giving a presentation on Urban Mushroom Hunting for the Los Angeles Mycological Society.

Quote:

LAMS General Meeting

When: Monday, October 15 @ 7:30pm
Where: Times-Mirror Meeting Room at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County

Speaker: Erin Page Blanchard
Program: "Urban Mushroom Hunting"

Most mushroom hunters don't think of bustling cities or quaint neighborhoods when they think of mushroom hunting, but in sunny Southern California the warm weather fungi prevail and have adapted to city life just fine, utilizing artificial irrigation and cultivated substrates.  If you have developed a habit of staring at the ground while walking around these seemingly unlikely habitats, you will be pleasantly surprised by the urban niche some mushrooms have come to thrive in!  This is a tour of some of the common, edible, and unusual species you are likely to run into around town, and in which habitats you are likely to find them.

I will confess something that should be quite obvious, CC.  I love mushrooms, i.e. fungi.  I really do.  I am talking about a strong feeling, i.e. emotion, for them.  I think they are beautiful.  I even dream of them.

Hahaha.  Sorry folks, it wasn't recorded.  I'll see about setting that up next time.  Here is a photo from the program.  Turns out it was National Mushroom Day on Monday- HA!

Here is the projected image (see, there is a mushroom in it...)

For you, Bob, I will draw a mushroom.  On your boob.  You can choose the species.
