Growing frustration but no mycelium
    #1703320 - 07/10/03 06:19 PM (13 years, 10 months ago)

Hey gang,
I'm really in need of advice or comfort....
I've been reading the posts and FAQs for awhile now and can't get anything going...
First project was wbs quart jars I bought presterilzed. big waste of money... took so long to colonize they molded first. Only got one cake birthed and it then molded - too much humidity in my terrarium.
2nd project. Spore syringe clear as drinking water, but I had faith... Nothing colonized after a whole month, brf of my own making. No contams though so I guess I got my glove box innoculation tek under control. Did a third batch with the same lot number of syringes, they did the same thing - absolutely nothing. Complained to vendor who sent me more syringes.
4th project, innoculated on Monday and yes I know its early but no signs of colonization starting. Those syringes also clear as water.
I've ordered new spores from a shroomry sponsor this time.
I've been trying now for over 3 months and I'm really disappointed. This can't be this f'ing hard.
Is it that these crystal clear syringes are duds? I'm keeping them at a constant 80% temperature and there's no contam... The syringes were not purchased from a shroomry sponsor but I don't want to name them until I'm 100% certain its not me. I've got 3 more syringes from them. No I don't have a microscope to look at them.
Thanks in advance...

hmmmm its hard to say, alot of syringes are perfectly clear that have spores... sounds like u did everything right tho.... i'd stick with thelittleguy for spores, he's the shit, and keep in mind wbs isn't for cakes... if u use wbs u need to spawn to dung or straw or both or you wont get shit.. if u have any other questions PM me

The vendor's shamanshop.net and to their credit, they did quickly email me more spores, but...
As a newbie I'm hesitant to bad mouth the vendor without certainty.
I'm looking forward to the TLG's syringes.
Thanks guys.

TLG sent my friend Syd B some spore syrs that wear clear and they colonized just fine. Sure your pressure cooking right? Try BRF! Good luck

Yes, I'm using brf, sterilized by steaming for an hour - no pressure cooker.
I wasn't overly concerned about the syringes being clear cause I've read on here about how few it takes to colonize and them being microscopic. I only got concerned when nothing happened.
I don't think I'm going to waste my time with the remaining syringes from that vendor and just wait for my TLG spores to arrive.
Atleast I can say that I've learned a lot

You could always do a simple LC with the syringes. My sig even shows a dirt-simple way to make a magnetic stirrer.

LC is so bloody easy and cheap, you really wouldn't be wasting time/effort/money if you gave it a shot.
