Salmon are in full run and its been ON! We had our first rain of the season last night and its a feeding frenzy. I love the fight with a medium action uglystick rod and 20lb test..took me 10 minutes to tire it out! Got 15lbs of premium meat frozen and vacum sealed and still some for fresh salmon tomorrow, I love Northern California!!!

Pics or it didn't happen.
We're pretty much neighbors btw. I like the Rogue in Oregon and the Smith in northern California.

I hear the Klamath is going off right now, makes me wonder why I spent last week on the Trinity. There were tons of salmon spawning in the upper river, a few steelhead showing, but mainly just on the move and tightlipped. Lots of smolts too. I'll probly leave for the Klamath this afternoon or tomorrow. How was the crowd? Boat traffic? Wind? Bait or lures? What section? Is it cold at night?

Weather is very comfy during the day for now, and chilly at night but not too bad. Not much crowds at all and some boat traffic. And they always seem to like red and yellow to me with salmon eggs. I suggest the mouth of elk creek and the klamath off of curly jack road in happy camp atm. Lots of people go to the mouth of the salmon river but the salmon rivers closed I believe.
hope this helps. Goodluck!

Fuck yeah, possible Shroomery Steelhead gathering for far NorCal & southern Oregon in the making!?
Thanks for the intel QQ. I rode out to Weitchpec & Johnson's Bar for yesterday and the day before. the water is still a little warm, and the steelhead are showing. Caught a handful of half-pounders and missed hooking into 3-4 adults. i got a learning curve going on with the whole two-handed fly/spey casting. The adults don't quite hang themselves on flies like they do on hardware.
I haven't been that far upstream on the Klamath yet, maybe next month. I usually fish the Mad in the late fall and winter since it's in the neighborhood.
