Great Crop...........
    #1701644 - 07/10/03 03:57 AM (14 years, 18 days ago)

I produced about 36 (1 Quart) jars of cambodian mycillium. I tried to fruit 3 jars by laying them out in trays and casing them with coco/verm casing. The casing went great but they never fruited. I had to patch it after day 4 and put light on them 12 hrs on/12 off around day 7. No overlay, just grown-through casing yet it still didnt fruit. IS cased grain harder to fruit than bulk substrates? I dont care about those but I have 4 bins with manure/straw that are 5 inches deep with 1.5 inches of casing. I dont want these to fail. Any tips???? PS... first time casing

how many jars you got left? i'm thinking half should be just terranium style and the other half experiment with casings

how long has it been since you started exposing the casing to light? takes 2 weeks to see your first pins after first initiating the fruiting cycle sometimes. maybe a cold shock would help.

Have a little patience...it does seem to take forever when you watch them day by day. As long as the surface of the casing does not get overlay and you get plenty of fresh air you will pin within 2-3 weeks. You are also using a deep substrate and casing layer so there is more to colonize and a longer growth cycle before pinning.

No.

Your casing is too deep. Casing depth should be no than 1/4 of the substrate depth. My friend has best results using much less than that.

Try cold shocking some of them, It often takes 2 weeks to get pins. Definetly too thick on the casing. like 1/2" is plenty
