1lb fungi bags
    #17015713 - 10/11/12 10:40 PM (11 years, 4 months ago)

Okay,so i been holding onto 5 10ml syringes for a while now and been afraid that they would spoil. So with the few bucks i had i ordered 3 1lb bags of hydrated wbs. I know all the teks say to use around 1-3cc per bag....but i used a whole syringe for each bag hopeing to get good results. Was this a good or bad idea??? Any thoughts on what to expect??
1st timer by the way

Only concern is too much moisture in one area (assuming clean inoculation) leading to anaerobic contamination. Did you mix around the solution/wbs after inoculating?

Spores in the fridge last for quite a long time... years even. The sooner you use them from printing/syringe-making, the better, but they do keep well.

Also, that's a lot of spawn for a beginner IMO. Be sure to read up on the next steps as much as you can, so you are prepared for spawning and fruiting.

Yea...i also made sure when injecting i had pointed the needle in every direction around the bag, rathI er than just one concentrated area. & i took all the correct sterilized innovation steps. I even put them in a taped box and stashed above my fridge.

Careful with that... the bags will heat up as they colonize. That heat plus your fridge heat could get too hot. You want them 70-75F.

Also, take them out of the box. Mushrooms benefit from light in all stages of their life cycle and the box will inhibit GE.

Okay...i will definitely take all that advice...& reason used so much syringe was because because i wasnt able to keep the syringes refrigerated for about two months. So figured more spores=more mycelium.

And thank you guys for help & opinions...i was starting to secondguess myself
