-So yeah it's real cow shit, and it's safe to use. It's just been dried out-hence the name "dehydrated". -Mr.Sleep

Nope. Not when it's been aged and dried, which is the best way to use it. When you wet it, you might get a slightly more cow-ish smell, but it won't be too strong. Enjoy your dung.

I just spawned some store bought cow manure. It is exactly like you described, it even looked like dirt. But once I added water I noticed that familiar smell... Mine was not from the depot though, I never saw any there. I tried mine right out of the bag, with a little sterile vermiculite added to lighten it up... I wanted to see how this compares to the hand picked dry patties im used to using. Did yours look like dirt like mine? It reminds me of really well composted dung, like from the middle of a huge pile.
My little experiment... It would make it so much easier if this works just as well...

Growlogs aint my style, but I shall post results if they are worth it. Cubensis on really good dirt... This will be interesting...
The real dung I have collected in the field is very much diferent that this. It is dirt that is called cow manure. The kind I have is most likely composted manure (heavily composted), that has additional material added. I notice it has sand in it, most likely to keep it from sticking together. As far its usefulness, I will have to wait and see... But I had doubts the instant I opened the bag...

same here, mine had little twigs and stuff in it...... but if it really is heavily composted and dehydrated cow manure, then it should be BETTER than normal shit, NO? its organic too, so it dont have any fungicides in it..... oh well, im starting today, so ill keep yall posted

You should pasteurize it not sterilize it, and yes it works great, it is composted shit that's what you want. I know some one that has a few going now and they always do great.

Yeah sterilizing it kills all the beneficial lifeforms in it-so I read. So pasteurize my friend is telling me to tell you. -Mr.Sleep

Sterilize? Pasteurize? Bah... I just used it right out of the bag! (with a little sterilized vermiculite added). This was all just an experiment, but guess what...
Its colonizing the dirt...

Actually I usually sterilize everything. Pasteurizing is more of a gamble for me. Almost every time I have tried, I have ended up in failure while sterilizing has always worked. I don?t care about killing little microorganisms, it works either way. There are a few Shroomery members that agree with me, some far more advanced than the likes of me. (Note, I don?t need a lecture on the proper ways of doing it either, I will stick with my current methods)
The right out of the bag use of the manure was just an experiment (I have heard others doing this), so I had to try it. The manure should be pasteurized before being sealed in the bag anyway, or it would get nasty real fast...

i have the filterpatch autoclave bags, so why not just sterlize it, its easier fer me to pressure cook the bag rather than do all that pasturisation mumbojumbo.... i work in a glove box, so the grain to dung transfer should be sterile.......
