If "WMD" are found...
    #1701243 - 07/10/03 01:07 AM (13 years, 4 months ago)

...and there is no objective party to verify their existence and Iraqi origin, just know that they have been planted.

Ask yourself - what is stopping the Bush administration/Pentagon from planting "WMD"?

I figure if they were gonna plant them, they would've done so by now, cuz right now they're looking pretty stupid.

Yeah.

Maybe they're waiting for the right time? I don't get it either. They're corrupt enough to do it, so why haven't they?

Maybe there's too many people shooting at them.

Yeah, but if they ARE gonna plant one, how are they gonna plant a weapon that doesn't trace back to them?

The whole world is watching. Maybe they figure that their track record for subterfuge hasn't been too great recently.

And there would be about zero chance of preventing leaks. From reading between the lines a lot of the spooks are pissed at the B-Ad. And, surely the CIA or related would have to be involved in the "operation", which would involve army escorts (to prevent Iraqis noticing), etc etc. Too much of a risk.

The consequences for the B-Ad would be horrendous. Sure the writing is on the wall that they're gonna have to hit the guillotine sometime soon, but they'll be able to do it (barring a real disclosure) with only one or two heads. The rest of them will recycle through revolving doors, and will be back into politics in time for the 2012 election (with Jeb at the helm.) If they were caught with their pants down pooping on the neighbor's cat, they would as good as admit that a) they are corrupt b) they lied cynically etc etc. The American public would be forced to be disgusted. The UN security council would be forced to unite against the actions of the US. Etc etc.

Ain't gonna happen.

i think if they were going to plant them, they'd have done it by now.

also, if they planted them, and somehow got caught, there'd be some serious, serious outrage.

It is my personal opinion that they are keeping the matter open..sort of 'ammunition' to use later to their benefit. What would happen if they suddenly stated that another country had taken the weapons from Iraq? I think they are waiting for the right moment to use the absence of WMD's in Iraq to their advantage.

There is no physical evidence to suggest this, it is only my humble opinion.

they arent going to plant them cuz they have already diverted the whole purpose of the war away from wmds, not that it didnt cross their minds.

On a C-SPAN interview with Gore Vidal, someone asked the old and wise author if he thought the WMDs would be found soon. He said something similar to "I'd imagine they're being planted right now," but he said that with a grin. I think the idea of them being planted is just a highly unlikely possibility.
