This is exactly my logic. Slowly but surely I'm learning my way around mushrooms, and this is a great hobby! I get so much enjoyment out of just hunting them down and finding them. Even ones I can spot and ID in a heartbeat are enjoyable to the eye for me.
I'm glad I fell onto this board out of mere curiousity.

Haha! The signal worked!
As for where it was growing, in the first habitat picture I have there, it was on the ground in some decaying wood near the tree. Unfortunately the tree hasn't had any leaves at all this year, so I'm really unsure of what kind it was. It's south east of the tree itself, and if you look closely at the blown up one, you can still see the stumps of the ones I pulled out.
There were 2 groups. One had the first 3, and the 2nd group had the other 4. But they were closely packed together coming out of one central location.
As for spore print, give me a couple minutes to get a picture of that. It should be a decent print by this point since it's been a few hours.

Unfortunately it didn't make a strong print like I was hoping for yet. However it did leave enough of one to get a rusty orange color out of it. The lighting isn't being generous and the flash destroys any trace of it on the paper. Next time, totally using a glass for this instead of paper.
Edit: Also I checked the one in the fridge, still no bluing (Or greening in this case) at all.

Yessir I can Bloodworm. I'll leave this one working overnight and hopefully by the time I'm out of class around noon I'll have a solid print to show off.
And thanks for the help, I appreciate it!
Edit: Is it still a possible no as to if they're active? What might you be thinking about for the different possibilities I might have?

Those look like true BLG's OP big laughers have a membranous annulus like yours and the darker thick caps, ground fruiting, and what you've seen thus far for brown bruising is right on! Big laughers are the least potent I find in my area. The aborted pins at the bases of other mature healthy fruits usually show the bruising with those. A fridge won't help big fruits of BLG's show bruising as they have more flesh , tough flesh, and more substance ( large fatty fruits ) for the tiny bits of psilocybin / psilocyn to hide. They will take a larger dose but give a great body massage type experience. Not much mind fuck. You can easily sleep as gyms are said to contain kava kava like compounds. Nice find man remember that spot as it will fruit every spring -and fall for possibly mant yrs. happy hunting

G. Ventricosus on the west coast is suppost to be a not active lookalike. But a large dose is needed with big gyms and the experience can still be explained as very mellow. Guess I'm blessed as every gym I've found is active. Specially reddish, pink, purple ones I find on white cedar out here. Go and look for more nearby man - where there is some there is more to be found! Don't forget that spot

I shall not forgot this spot, and later on today I'll give the area another search. I didn't look too hard or far simply because these guys took up a ton of room in my Tupperware. I know people say use something that breaths well...so cut a bunch of half inch holes throughout it so they won't start turning into mush on me.
But this also pleases me I have a place I can check back each year too!

Nice finds! Just make sure you dry them well, I found some BLGs last weekend and have tried to air dry them since then, but sadly it looks like they got some mold. Fortunately I could wipe it off and have since frozen the shrooms. I'm going to get some desiccant today for future finds.
Also, check your messages in a minute.
