I could go on for days telling you how tripping has changed me. This thread has nothing to do with that..

If psychedelics are so good, wouldn't it make sense that you're forced to under go insanity before you are led to the answers, just like shamanism?

No that actually makes no sense. Because if I was insane under the influence of psychedelics, the "answers" I found would be a delusion - something I'd pass on as bullshit under a "sane" mindset. And if I was sane, I wouldn't be tripping. So it's something outside of the whole sanity spectrum, otherwise known as "unsane"

The answers are simply answers of yourself. Insanity is simply a stepping stone to it. You enter insanity, fight off all demons, fight off all emotions, you come out a new person, more loving and tranquil. Insanity is simply the journey to the sane thought of tranquility. "The answers" are simply the answers to who you are, it isn't delusional if they're unique to yourself. Also the answers aren't found when you're insane, they're found after you realize how to embrace the insanity. However the more I look at it, the more I realize I may just be redefining unsane.

This song came to mind.

You got me in calling out my obvious exaggeration as an exaggeration. Tripping has changed me in many profound ways.
The ego does win a lot, though. An example is all your sideline ego comments relating to why you think you're high and mighty for living through the 60's...Ego galore

I would never make the claim to not be ego driven. You aren't showing me something I don't already know and accept about myself.  Nor am I condemning you for being ego driven. Hardly.  I'm just pointing it out so we can become more aware of who and what we really are. (imo)

I started using psychedelics in 1970. I used them frequently up until I was 58.  I wouldn't say that their use hasn't altered me more so than lets say all my failed love affairs and all the other things that have happened to me.  Fact is I really can't honestly say how or how much they have really altered my basic character.  I do know I really haven't changed much over my whole life.  Still afraid, still ego driven, still empathetic and loving at times.

They're a tool like anything else. You can use them to improve yourself, you can use them for fun. You can't use them to change what you are, they don't alter our fundamental nature.

Someone who uses them to improve themselves probably would have had improving themselves as a priority regardless of whether they discovered psychs or not. Maybe the psychs can take you further in this case, maybe not. Maybe in the end, you travel the same number of miles and just end up somewhere different. Different is good though, more places to go is good. Diversity is good.

I guess the same can go for fun.

I haven't noticed much change from psychs. They occasionally make my social anxiety and fear of rejection disappear temporarily.

a way of being rather than an area of the mind
except
when you are this way you remember similar times and strange realities that you cannot normally access
part of that is purely associative, you do not have the links to leap to the memory, but part of it is also the resonance that is happenning which is more layered when stoned.

you may think the memories are lost in another place you want to get back to, but it is not a place it is a resonant reverberance to everything that you want to get back to .
(i.e. synaptic serotonin flooding etc.)

and it is everywhere, (people often consider dimensions...)
