How to stay motivated?

Hello shroomery!
I'd like some advice on how to... actually stay motivated with life changes.
I'm constantly on and off with dieting, at at most (unfortunately), I probably last 2 months and give up afterwards and gain it all back. I'd like to lose 20-30 pounds while I'm still young (21)
Does anyone know what will effectively work to keep me on track, or do I just need to suck it up and just do it? I get bored of the same exercise routine... Which is typically p90x, and walking/jogging. :/ My weight fluctuates a lot, and whenever I diet, I tend to stick to cucumbers, cottage cheese, and sliced turkey meat.
In a couple of days, I'm going to get started on my diet and exercise and hope for the best. I'm waiting to recove from a fever I had 4 days ago, and I still have the coughs/sore throat. Once that's gone, I'll start jogging every morning, p90xing in the afternoons, and keeping track of 1,200 calories. In case anyone is wondering, I'm 4'11" and 168lbs...
Also, I know you can't target fat, but what's the best way to lose some fat on your arms and legs/calves?
Anyway, here's a couple of body shots/before and afters. I have a pear-shaped body and I've always struggled with weight From 2010, Left was my fattest point and it took me a month of p90x + 45 mins of walking the dog to get results on the right, but I was also cheating by being bulimic... Gained some of the weight back once I stopped being bulimic.

and here's me now

Any advice, tips, dieting plans/exercise routines, or motivation would be greatly appreciated.

You don't want to be bulimic, bad shit there. Eat vegetables with fruits as dessert, I know they can get old but you can eat them all day all you want and it only gets better for you, beans etc. Stay away from lunchmeat, fix the actual bird and slice it up yourself, I hear lunch meat is full of stuff you don't need. When it comes to exercise I've never had luck with the "routine", so I use being active as an excuse for my exercise. Here recently it's been mushroom hunting, trekking a few hours a day through woods. Doc says I have high blood pressure and guilt tripped me with the "you're too young to have high blood pressure" but I LOVE salt so, but it's an attempt to get my heart elevated a couple hours a day and it's always changing, I'm too add for sterile repetetive routine. But yea really figure out your food, view it as fuel and you'll be good to go, shit horses have the muscle tone they do and all they eat is grass. Oh yea don't eat anything out of a box either, whole food. One cheat I have is I steam up a pile of rice and use it as a base, you can put anything on it. It's good

I think you look good! Id hit it, for real. some jogging and a diet full of fiber and nutrients and you will be slim in no time. Cardio and bad fat restriction is the probably the best plan.

Thanks for the advice Amanita86. I've been bulimic on and off since I was 13 (21 now) and I do try not to give into it whenever I lose weight. I didn't know lunch meat is bad!
Anon 2, do you mean carbs in general or just bread?
Tranzfixed, lol thanks. I do like my figure but I prefer to be 20-30 pounds less for to feel more confident, and most of all, to be healthy and active overall
I think I'll try to cut out pasta and bread. Is cheese horrible, too? I sometimes like to eat my spinach salads without dressing, but with some feta, dried cranberries, and cucumber.

I didn't read your post but motivation is just a feeling that comes and goes.
Inspiration is what you want.
Also, don't tell anyone your goals.

You have really nice curves. You actually have a great body, lovely wide hips. With a few small adjustments to your diet, and increased exercise you could have a super hot body though. It's not too difficult you just need to learn to love your new lifestyle and the benefits it brings. Learn to love eating healthy and exercising, and your body will reward you. It may seem hard at first, but you must realise YOUR BODY WANTS TO BE HEALTHY. It WANTS to look good. Even if munching down shit loads of cakes or chocolate bars taste nice, it doesn't mean your body desires it. Quite the opposite. (not saying you munch down cakes at all, you really do look pretty trim. i'm just sayin' ya know) Learn to love what your BODY wants and needs. Don't fight against it.
Motivation is hard at first, but with time, once you see the results, all you will have to do to get motivated is look in the mirror, then look at an old picture of yourself. The results will motivate you. Other than that, music and reading up on the success of others.
Theres plenty of info out there. Take up a weight lifting routine (don't be afraid that you'll turn all beefy and manly - drugs are required for that) Lift some weights - squat, deadlift, bench press, shoulder press. Eat clean but don't be hard on yourself, you need to enjoy your healthy lifestyle. If you don't enjoy what you eat, thats not healthy in my book.
So yeh eat clean, wholesome, nutricious food. Lift weights and go for a run couple to 3 times a week and I promise you will see the results.
Then once you see the results, accept that this is the lifestyle required. Don't go back to your old ways, unless you want to look like the old you. Good luck!

you are really attractive just because i know how hard that weight is to get off.. it takes a couple months to get fat
awesome work that probably took years..
look up breathing exercises for helping your back.. i think ive heard breath is way more important than the food you eat
