about sclerotia producing species...

In sclerotia producing species (mexicana,tampensis and atlantis are all i know off...) , is sclerotia as potent as the fruits ? or does it change due to specimen? I've never tried (any) sclerotia nor the fruit of a sclerotia prducing specimen. And how about the yield both when left in the jar (mycobag,etc.) to produce sclerotia and when cased to induce fruitig?    :confused:

well, with mexicana I've found the fruits to be _considerably_ stronger than the sclerotia...

P. mexicana sclerotia are a bit more potent by dry wieght than P. cubensis.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.

I think it depends on the age of the stone when picked.AFOAF thinks at 2-3 mos they are weaker than the fruit bodies.When the stones are 5-6 mos old they are as strong or stronger.The real benefit in stones is weight.mushies are 92% water while the stones are ~60%.

Thank you guyz all!... I understood the subject i guess.... And what i understood is that, it's better to case 'em and let them fruit..... The second solution is to try!.... :wink: (I'm not sure i'm patient enough to wait to wait the stones get 5-6 months old...)

  But how about the yield? There is a benefit of stones after 5-6 months to contain less water, i got it! But how about the yield ratio of the specimen both when cased and when were left in jar (mycobag,etc...)?

    I know it's an "hard to answer" question! But any thoughts'll be apreciated!

These were produced in the casing layer.After 3 1/2 months no shroom but plenty of stones.

It?s not.
An overall yield with stones is better, reaching in the 300% biological efficiency range.

meant to depend a lot on how the stones are grown. most say slightly stronger than cubensis. some guy on forestfloor had it all worked out but lost all his info in a computer crash

And patience shouldn't be an issue when growing stones. Just innoculate and forget. If you want fruits, fine, you can grow several crops while your stones just sit there. They take up little space, and need no attention. I could understand patience being a problem if you had to fan them three times a day for 5 months, but in this case, they just do their thing and months later you harvest when you are ready.

Think of it like this, if I told you that in 6 months I'd give you a new car, would you tell me you didn't want it at all cuz you didn't have the patience to wait for it?
