Using TOR correctly
    #16966022 - 10/04/12 03:02 PM (11 years, 3 months ago)

I am really sorry if this has been addressed at legnth before, but I had some questions and concerns.

Is there a trustworthy guide out there that breaks down the process in laymans terms?
I am not very computer savvy and want to be sure I use it as safely as possible.
I run Windows XP on my home computer with cable internet.

I just went to the TOR site and downloaded the TOR bundle or whatever it's called.
Is it then 100% safe, or does more tweaking become required?

Is there anything else that can be easily done to boost security or is what I did pretty safe as is?
Im not viewing CP or anything nasty, but I want my activity to be as safe as the next guy.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Download the bundle and your good to go.
If you want to be safe(r) learn pgp and gpg.
You gotta get a wallet for bitcoins.
I like blockchain.info.  It's free.
Get a moneygram to buy bitcoins and put them in your wallet from CVS or Walmart.

VMWare is a pretty secure way of connecting to Tor.  There was, may still be updated, a VM project called AOS that is downloadable.  I run a VMWare of Windows XP, but don't use the browser bundle.  I still uses Polipo and have Vidalia set to run at startup.  It's best to disable Java, but if not you can set it up to run through Tor.

If you only plan on visiting .onion sites the browser bundle on a flash drive is sufficient.  It's when you go to regular webpages, not using a VM, that your true host info can be leaked.

Since flash drives are expensive for large capacity with fast read/write speeds I use an external SSD.  Some other useful programs are Password Safe(generates complex passwords automatically), Truecrypt(encrypt entire drives or create file containers that are encrypted), Freeraser, and Bleach Bit.  Also, learn how to use PGP and GnuPG encryption for emailing.  I have my Password Safe database in an encrypted file container that uses AES and Twofish.  Other things in there are my PGP keys and things that I don't want anyone to ever see.  It's a hassle having to mount the file container and all that, but over time you remember the passphrases for those things.  Password Safe is incredible and I've even switched to it for everything.  On my iPhone I input those passwords into an app called Strip that also keeps them encrypted.

Then, for added safety, you can use that TrueCrypt file container in a Dropbox to sync it when it's not mounted.  I also have my bitcoin wallet in there.  So even though you have all of this very important stuff in this container, it's encrypted so well you can rest pretty easy.  If you have hardware failure or need to wipe your drive you can recover all of that from Dropbox.

Keep in mind that anything you plan to use for or on Tor must be setup and only ever accessed on Tor.  If you have a Mtgox account that's legit and verified for buying/cashing out bitcoins, you don't want to access that over Tor.

I was mainly just thinking about getting a large(r) one time shipment of drugs I cant find IRL through SR or whatever.
Im having serious reservations, mainly due to the delivery of the few grams of stuff I want.
Just feel so sketched even though I only need one or two packages.
Seriously debating whether its gonna be worth it or not.

I just wish I could find a reliable source IRL for my purchases. I just want like 3 grams of MDMA to last me several years and I was wanting a few grams of Methamphetamine to try out for wild sex nights.

Dumb, I know, but Im having trouble with the impulse control of the want...and I want to do this a "safely" as possible...if thats even possible

Well read and read and read.  Easiest way to purchase bitcoins without any trace going back to you is to use the bitinstant service after setting up either a phony mtgox account at a public library, or a bitcoin receive address that's been created over Tor.  You can then go to Bitinstant and choose a pay by cash option.  This allows you to select Moneygram or CVS.  I used CVS(watch the tutorial video at bitinstant's site).  You then print a voucher, go to a CVS you select, pick up the Moneygram phone and give the info.  When they ask for a name just make one up.  It then gets transferred to the clerk, electronically, and you pay with cash.  By the time you get back home the money will be in your mtgox acct or bitcoin receive address, whichever you chose.  For added safety send it to a few fake Torified blockchain addresses before sending it to your SR receive address.

Just use the latest version of the browser bundle and only visit the sites you need.  Disable Java, especially if you have version 7.  MDMA and meth are obviously popular illegal drugs so there are vendors on there that have a lot of transactions, feedback, and you can be pretty sure you'll just get your stuff.  The only real risk is if you order schedule 1 drugs from a non-domestic vendor, because it will have to go through customs.  There's virtually no risk buying domestically.

If you take some more time and set up a VMWare, and it doesn't have to be Linux, you can use things like the Pidgin chat client and go into SR's IRC.  People in there are very, very helpful.  You can put it on a USB key with the Tor bundle and set the ports in Pidgin to go through Tor.  Just read up on the SR forums and talk to people in chat.

Thanks a lot for the help, bud.

No risk ordering domestic...you really believe that?

God I hope so.

If it's a vendor that has been around a while I believe it.  All drugs that emit odor are shipped vacuum sealed, sometimes double sealed, and veteran sellers are smart about shipping.  Those packages raise zero suspicion and are protected under the 4th amendment of the constitution from someone just opening it.  It would take a warrant, but it wouldn't ever get that far.  I've been in SR chat for quite some time now and have yet to hear of any buyers getting busted for domestic purchases.

The majority of the stuff will be prepared so there's no prints on it, all labels are printed, and a fake address from a legitimate place(law firms are popular) for a return addy.

Being a new buyer you'll almost always have to finalize early, so your money will not be held in escrow, the seller will get it before shipping.  This is done so they don't get scammed.  Anyone can make a new buyer acct and buy something without ever paying(some sellers don't use delivery confirmation) so you need some feedback under your belt before sellers will not require early finalization.

So if I use a seller with a 98-100, is standard to do that and safe?
Im talking like a 200-400 order, kinda afraid to hand over that much money, but if thats how its done then I guess its what I gotta do.
Hope I can find a good vendor that carries both meth and mdma so I only need 1 shipemtn

And I assume its ok to email and tell them to how I want it shipped (w/o a sig)

Sigh...so much to learn

Are there any legit services that I can hire to do the tech work and place the orders for me?
Like give them my order and let them do the vendor work so its done correctly

Of course there aren't.  You are using the internet to commit felonies through the black market.  You really just need to take the time to learn it all yourself, otherwise just forget about it.

SR still exists, and thrives, because of the time and stringent security measures it takes to buy/sell there.  It's funny because their IRC has some of the smartest motherfuckers I've chatted with.  The one thing I can say is that my brother first ordered from SR three months ago, made a number of purchases since then, and I have to show that guy how to do practically everything with computers.  He figured it out on his own and gets stuff he wants.  Is he completely safe/never exposed his IP or anything like that?  Who knows? The hardest, most confusing part of it is getting bitcoins into your SR account without it being possible for anyone to trace it back to you... in my opinion anyway.

Shipping is done by the seller, and they likely won't accommodate some request for how the parcel/envelope should be prepared.  Any seller with 50+ transactions and 95+ feedback rating knows what they're doing.  You also will have to buy each product from a separate vendor, but you never know.  Go on their forums and read about the vendors you have in mind.  The information is all at your fingertips man.  The risk you take is giving your name and address to someone.  Everything else is completely anonymous.

$200-400 is nothing on SR.  A buddy of mine from my days in the military orders stuff over the $2k bar rather frequently.  There is risk in moving large amounts of bitcoins, as statistical analysis could lead it to you, but you're talking about an amount that's practically normal on SR.

Fucking wish to hell I just sat on the 46 bitcoins I had back when they were selling for $4... :suicide:

I'll definitely do more reading on their forums.
Thanks for all the help and patience, 5HTP.

It's like anything new, I'm sure a month from now my overwhelmedness will seem like small potatos.

I wasn't more so talking about their packaging methods, than I was referring to my wish of the package not needing a signature...since I would probably deny shipment if they knocked and wanted me to sign.

What security measures should I take to simply access the SR forums? Will the latest version of tor suffice?

I've also read of another dealing website called Black Market Reloaded, anybody been there to comment.
