My cake is smoking, is something wrong with it? It had like seriouslly a smoke release from a iconolation hole when i checked up on this one.

smoking? what color is the smoke? sounds like a cloud of mold spores to me(bad), but you'll have to give me a little more to go on.

Okay, I took this cake out onto a pan. Seems as though the top part of the cake has a huge blue tint to it. Kinda like a mold, it was powdery and like straight turquiouse blue. I rubbed it in a qtip with peroxide and the color rubbed off. There are sections of the cake with no blue stuff on it, should I take these sections and case them?

I took a whiff of the odor, yes i might be dumb. But it kinda reeked like a bag of shrooms. Not a strong odor but I was like is that a wiff of strong mycelium colonization or is that like mycelium bruising?

This sucks, another cake down the drain. I have had like a 40% contam loss rate. I hope tyvek and this flowhood makes a change with that.

there's no reason you should need tyvek/flowhood with the PF tek. BTW- are these straight-up rice cakes? i'd start by making sure i had a dry verm layer on top, my sterilization was sufficient, my spore solution was clean, and that i cleaned the needle with flame/alcohol regularly whilst injecting. you can test your jar preparation by simply leaving 1 or two go uninocculated. if they go bad than you know where your problem is.

If you just boil pf cakes with no spores in them and something develops then you know you dont steralize your jars well enough? Will anything develop in it?
