Why cut funding to PBS? It's one of the better places to watch television. How much money are we talking about any way? It can't be much when you compare it to the defense budget. I mean it plays to Romney's base so I get why he said it but really PBS is the enemy here? Sounds like smoke and mirrors to me.

Sure the defense budget needs cutting I am in favor of cuts, but honestly the federal government has more of a duty to national defense than to tv programming. Funding pbs is not constitutional.

Funding PBS is not a power the constitution gives to the Feds.

No show/network should receive Federal funding. It doesn't matter if it's a single dollar.

A distraction? There are hundreds, if not thousands, of places the Feds spend money that they shouldn't.

It's a symptom of a larger disease.

But you do realize the only reason Romney brought up PBS is due to his base. I doubt he really cares if the Gov funds PBS. Don't forget he is a politician looking for votes. Obama too.

yes, because right wing ideology is the past. If we keep following right wing ideaology, soon corporations will own all our wild lands, the divide between the rich and the poor will become even greater, and our military will continue to grow, while social program after social program is cut. Things like pensions and benefits will cease to exist for the working class. Welcome to the brave new world. I suppose the positive would be that it could act as a catalyst for revolution.

I don't necessarily disagree with what you are saying but I do know how these politicians think and I do not think there is much difference between any of them. They may argue this or that but at the end of the day all they care about is perception not reality. Votes are what count the most and getting re elected is their job. It's one big country club that you or I are not invited to join unless that is you have enough money to get elected. Money is the only constant.

There's a reason a phrase as vague as "general welfare" was included under the federal taxation and spending powers (Art. I, Sec. 8) - unless they're actually infringing on state or personal rights it was intended to mean whatever the congress wants it to mean.

Yea not to mention social security or medi/care-caid. The defense budget troubles me far more then the measly amount public broadcasting receives. I don't like hypocrites regardless of party. After his big bird comment Romney said he was ready to fully fund the military to the tune of whatever the defense department requests which to say the least is troubling.

LOL well at least your honest about were you stand. As for corporations being evil entities that do no good you are dead wrong. They employ thousands of workers and raise the standard of living for all. Not sure why they would cut pensions as another company would provide a pension plan and people would work for that company. Capitalism has enriched the world and fostered technological advance. Tell me an economic system that would work better I dare you.
