The difference being.... I don't believe you.

It would be nice if you didn't exaggerate.

I said nothing about you being full of hate.

I said I believe you hate Bush.

So while you are full of something, it's not hate.

Please read what I write a little more closely and try not to exaggerate so much.

If you say so. I believe otherwise.

That's an expression I'm not familiar with. The way you use it makes me think it's roughly equivilent to bullshitting.

How's that? I didn't insult you, or call you names. I thought we were having a rather civil discussion. Perhaps the truth hurt a bit too much?

No problem with the level of civility but discussing whether or not I hate Bush is irrelevant. Once I have told you that I dont you should leave it there.

Oh? Is that how discussion works in the UK?

Gazz says something and no-one should dare differ?

Great system, too bad it'll never happen.

And quite frankly it isn't irrelevant as it colors your posts as regards Bush and US policy.

When do you sleep, LDS?

OK, so what? So it's just yet *another* example of how the administration are scrambling to leave an energy legacy that is less than disasterous, rather than cluing the public in on the game. You remember thart article I posted quoting Simmons, from Cheney's energy task force? These guys are scared - they can see the writing on the wall re: oil. Instead of actually doing anything constructive to get us off oil, the issue has been obfuscated - we now just want to get off Mid East oil, like that's going to solve shit.

Are you aware of the coming Natural Gas crisis? By next summer the utilities are predicting rolling blackouts. Oil is probably less than a decade behind.

When the day comes we run out of oil (and I've seen estimates ranging from 20 years to 200 years) you don't think those wealthy oil barons will have moved their money into whatever power source comes next? They're smart enough to control oil, but too stupid to move on?

Quote:

Yup. The "crisis" will last as long as it takes to get the prices up and / or more pipelines built. I believe you'll find the "gas" crisis to be more of a distribution crisis.

The sky is falling! Build more nuke plants like several other nations have done.

I doubt it. It will just get more expensive.

Believe what you like. If you look around the energy industry, you'll find a lot of people are worried.

Bob Geldof astonished the aid community yesterday by using a return visit to Ethiopia to praise the Bush administration as one of Africa's best friends in its fight against hunger and Aids.

The musician-turned activist said Washington was providing major assistance, in contrast to the European Union's "pathetic and appalling" response to the continent's humanitarian crises.

"You'll think I'm off my trolley when I say this, but the Bush administration is the most radical - in a positive sense - in its approach to Africa since Kennedy," Geldof told the Guardian.

The neo-conservatives and religious rightwingers who surrounded President George Bush were proving unexpectedly receptive to appeals for help, he said. "You can get the weirdest politicians on your side."

Former president Bill Clinton had not helped Africa much, despite his high-profile visits and apparent empathy with the downtrodden, the organiser of Live Aid, claimed. "Clinton was a good guy, but he did fuck all."

Exactly. Thermodepolymerization, for example. It, or something like it, will replace drilling for oil. Since this requires ungodly amounts of capital, it will mostly the current energy companies that get in on the ground floor. They don't care what kind of energy they sell you, and when an alternative is more cost effective for them they will jump on it. It's simple self preservation.

Exactly. In the words of Luvdemshrooms, shit by any other name is still shit.

He may not have lied about going there for oil,but he never mentioned it,and as far as I'm concerned, that's just as bad as lying.

I'm sure Bush and his goons are sooo concerned about the energy crisis, seeing that he doesn't seem to give a shit about alternative energy sources, and no,he has absolutely no past ties with the oil industry or anything like that he could profit from.

You're forgetting the possibility that the word oil may never even come up on his trip. That article is the authors speculation about a possible purpose for the trip. Or do you have other information that confirms the authors belief?

Are you unaware that the expression (hang him) is a commonly used one not to be taken as a literal desire? Or are you being deliberately obtuse?

You're right,I shouldn't have automatically assumed the article was correct (which I didn't by the way, even if my responses may have indicated otherwise).

However, assuming the article is correct for our theoretical discussion, you were still defending Bush's lying. I was just defending my position that you were wrong and was just trying to point out that Bush does indeed have personal vested interest for lying.

I did take that into consideration, but with you I wasn't sure.It wouldn't surprise me if you did though.

I can't agree.

If you tell your significant other you are going to the store for milk, even though you also want other goodies... that makes you a liar? I don't think so.

And there are reasons for a trip that a President would be foolish to mention.

That is far worse than the analogy you critized me for.

So,if you tell wifey you're going to the store for milk and you stop by a whorehouse and bang five hookers it's OK because you never lied to your wife?

The president should be completely truthfull with the public and tell them everything, unless it's a bonafide matter of national security. Bush isn't like that at all, that's why he's a lying sack of shit.
