My friend went according to the simple tek in the FAQ. Only he couldnt find rice flour so he made his own in a coffee grinder. He used the amount said in the recipe but thinks the jars might be a little dry. Theve only been inoculated for 3 days and he knows that that isnt long enough for anything but is there a way to tell if moisture is low in the jar??

If you PC'd them I doubt you lost moisture due to that. If you have low moisture it is most likely due to having too little to begin with. If you want to check one jar, open it up, if you have some condensation on the lid of the jar you are most likely fine. You can probably still use the jar, although some will say just toss it.
I agree with KuSsh that most likely you are fine, the substrate never _looks_ wet, if it does it is too wet.

well he told me somethings started in one of them. He said that he tried to be as sterile as possible when innoculating so hopefully its not just cobweb mold. He says he has confidence though. He also thanks everyone!

I always panic thinking its dry, but then I wait a few more days and the mycelium starts showing signs.
