Kerr or ball jars??????
    #1694782 - 07/07/03 10:25 PM (21 years, 6 months ago)

Ok, I'm just getting started on growing my own shrooms. I've researched and gone over the process quite a bit to believe I'm nearly qualified to start the process. But one thing I'm confused about; the jars. I know that the jars are supposed to be shaped so that the opening is to be wider that the body of the jar (as stated in the pf tek). I apologize for my ignorance or lack of research, but where do you get a 'canning jar' fitting this description? And what is a good canning jar that you all typically use for a good turnout? Thanks

Grocery stores have em now, I've seen them at Target, Wal-Mart, almost everywhere. Kerr or Ball don't matter, most places I've seen have the Ball. Just call a couple of Grocery stores in your area and ask for 1/2 pint canning jars.

Plastic as opposed to glass I'm assuming, right? I'm incredibly new to this, so please dont't rip me apart. I've tripped on mushrooms appx. 15 times, but over the last two years, they've been increasingly harder to obtain. I figured, why not just grow my own? Anyways, I'll spare you all my speil. Thanks again. I appreciate all of your help on this. Also, while I'm at it...a question about yield: How many oz's or grams does one jar typicaly yield? Also, is 1/8oz of dried shrooms eaten using the pf tek usually the same level dose as 1/8 of commercial? I'm from the midwest region of the US so I assume the majority of cubies in this area come from indoor growing kits anways.

Home grown are more potent than outdoor if they are grown well. Have fun growing. You have many a mushroom.

You can expect a cake to yield 7-10 grams dry over something like 4-5 flushes.

Hey KuSsh, where did batman get his plastic jars? Are you serious about that? I don't see the advantage of even a really hard plastic except for those that Anno used here:

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Forum2&Number=1235035

but those are not so cheap and not as easy to come by.
