Ripped stem
    #1694378 - 07/07/03 08:07 PM (21 years, 6 months ago)

Well this dood i know just harvested his first few mushrooms but was a bit concerned with how well he removed the fruit from the cake, he couldn't get the bottoms' of the stems off the cake so he ended up ripping them off, leaving part of the base of the stem intact on the cake. How will this effect further fruiting?? Well thanks yall.

They will most likely rot, which is bad. You really had a hard time removing from a BRF cake? AFOAF never has any problem, he just rips them off with one hand. Twist it when you pull it off.

he picked up the cake and removed as much as he could but there are sill a few fibers connected to the cake, lol yea he had a bit more trouble with the twist than he expected, but do ya think it will bother the growth of other pins and smaller fruit on the cake

It should be fine if you just have "fibers" connected to the cake - if it turns black or green then cut it out with a sterile knife. Treat it similar to aborts, I believe.
