Growing cubes indoor with manure or grain substrate?

Hello, I am quite new to mushroom cultivation and am wondering if I can use grain or cow manure as a substrate? I have a choice between grain and cow manure from amazon.com, they are supposivly 100% sterile, which is from what ive read the problem with using manure indoors. Any advice is appreciated.
P.S: I used SF but did not see anything regarding sterile manure/grain substrate

Good call.
When I hear of sterile bags of grains and manure, then I think that one is designed for "spawn" and the other is for "substrate".
Now, you can grow cubes on straight grains, but the line is blurred somewhat.
Read up, and good luck.

Provided the price was the same per pound or volume, I would go with the grain and case it once it's colonized.
If the cpoo is packaged for growing mushrooms it's probably fine, but I generally avoid cpoo as you never know what you're going to get.

well people said that the manure/grain is indeed sterile.
To simplify my question, can I do the TEK method and substitute rice flour and vermicule with sterile grain?

Some people use grain in place of the rice flour, though they usually grind it up first. Since it's pre-sterilized you might be able to get away with a whole grain/verm mix, but since the grain will be pre-hydrated this will place the required amount of water into the unknown. It would be better to procure some rice flour and vermiculite and follow the tek precisely. I was under the impression you were asking about bulk substrates.

well im not able to get vemicule (very tight on finances..) im assuming that the grain is ready to use in it's state. Im very new to this but wouldnt using the sterile grain be the same as using vermicule/rice flour, if not better?

Colonized grain crumbles easily (great for spawn not great for cakes). Wet rice flour and vermiculite hold together well. Plus, verm holds a lot of moisture while straight grain cakes wouldn't. Trying to make cakes from just grain isn't a good way to start growing. It would probably end up being a waste of money.
PF tek is the way most people start, but if you already own or have access to a pressure cooker a bulk grow can be cheaper. Give us an idea of what materials you have access to already and how much money you have to spend. I don't know how much the grain bags are, but pre-sterilized grain will go for a premium.

Unfortunatly I do not have access to a pressure cooker, but I am looking at a 20-30 dollar window. At the moment I do not have a job so my money is inconsistent, but I can buy the vermicule and the other materials within time. Is it true that you can sterilize the jars by steaming them in a pot? Im assuming it would just take longer

You do not want _sterile_ bulk substrate.
Manure is good as an additive. To use as your spawn, not so great(Yes it will work, but not as well as brf/wbs/rye ect).
Personally if I were you and finances were tight, I would buy things one by one until you have everything needed. In the meanwhile, study up on things here.
No, you do not _need_ a pressure cooker, but it is very highly suggested and the best purchase you will make in this hobby.
You can sterilize things by boiling them(Speaking PF Jars here).
PF Tek is fairly inexpensive, and very newbie friendly. Jars, vermiculite, BRF, spores, perlite, and a clear plastic tote.

A boil is good enough for PF cakes but they use rice/grain flour. Whole grains require higher temperatures which is why a PC is necessary.
You can get everything needed for PF tek including the syringe for around $50-55
