The Temperature?

I read that most mushrooms need high temperatures. I searched the FAQ but couldn't find anything. Do you need extra equipment to warm the air in the terrarium or not? And if you do What could i use?
thanks in advance.

I think he means Temperature, by the name of the post and his question , not relative humidity.
MAD CAP If you use the search button you will find your info but to answer your question I believe 86 F. for incuabting and 74 F. for fruiting.

The short answer is they need 85F and darkness during colonization and 75F and light during fruiting. There's more to it, of course, but you can learn about that at:

An aquarium heater in a jug of water in an incubator works well. Check the above link. Read it and every sublink from top to bottom, and I promise you'll get just about all your questions answered before you even think of them.
Good luck.

A FOAF new terranium seems to maintain around 26C (79F) with the light on, will this be too hot?

That's fine; 75F is the optimal temperature; they'll still grow in a wide range of temperature, only more slowly.

What options do we have for cooling it down a bit then? We want to maintain optimal conditions obviously

Take some 2 litre coke bottles, fill them 2/3 way up with water, and put them in the freezer. Put one of them in the terrarium, and several hours later switch it out with another one. Be sure to test the temp or to keep a close eye on it when you first start this, so you don't make it too cold. Of course you could use ice packs that you would use in a cooler or on an injury, but the coke bottles are cheaper if you don't have those

Yes indeed, I can see the link which you have posted five times upon this thread
I was just asking if 79F was too hot, the range in there is 74-78 ?F, and it (my friends terranium) only gets to 79F with the light on and 75.2F with the light off
I can understand this being annoying for a person with more knowledge in this area, and having to listen to beginners ask the same questions over and over again, but you also have to remember the FAQ holds a large amount of information, somethings people will look over, or simply not remember having read before. I try to read as much as I can in the FAQ and ask questions that seem appropriate to me, I am grateful for all the help members of the shroomery.org BBS give
