Questions about pigeon manure
    #16929812 - 09/29/12 12:05 AM (8 years, 4 months ago)

Would it be similar to chicken manure? Has anyone used said manure?

But if chicken manure is beneficial to growing large fruits then maybe pigeon manure is just as beneficial. Besides, whats the worst that can happen from trying?

I would not advise it.. Pigeons are flying rats, they carry all types of parasites/bacteria/viruses, meningitis, histoplasmosis, etc. You could be getting yourself in a heap of trouble by trying to gather up enough pigeon poo for a grow.. The bacteria will go airborne, I wouldn't suggest it.

Agreed.  I use a bit of chicken manure in my compost mix along with cow, horse, worm castings, coir, seaweed, and a bit of verm to lighten it all up.  Don't use more than about 10% of the total as chicken manure.  It will help grow some giants.

Bagged, composted cow manure from the nursery works great, as I've posted here repeatedly.  Mix it half and half with verm by volume, and then toss in a handful or two of gypsum.  If you want to grow monsters, toss in up to 5% composted chicken manure by volume.

I'll be wearing gloves and a mask. This can be a first for the shroomery so i see no reason not to experiment.
